"It's entirely possible. The Clinton strategy to derail the Kerry nomination is becoming more clear with every passing day. Kerry will not survive the convention - if he even makes it to the convention."

If kerry doesn't survive the convention, then hitlery! just HAS to run for it "for the good of the country" in o4. (Calling all lib media, Charlie, Peter, etc. NOW!) Even if kerry does manage to flip flop through it, they know that he won't win, opening the door wide for her/it in '08. Win win situation for her heneious either way.

One of my thoughts on Hillary! running in 2004 is whether she really wants to inherit the war in Iraq and the War On Terror. If she really wants to build up socialism, is the way to do it in a 50/50 country to declare defeat by insurgents in Iraq, bring home the world's most feared military, and divert the military funding (again) to social programs?

Or, would she rather wait until 2008 and hope that either: 1) the war goes well and the people weary of Bush and Republicans, or 2) the war goes poorly and the people weary of Bush and Republican?

If she does run in 2004 and wins, then she will have to do something about Iraq and Afghanistan. If she waits, then it's Bush's problem to deal with.

I have never doubted that she would run this year, the only question was the way that she would enter the race. The 2008 objective MIGHT have been her original goal (giving her undeserved benefit of the doubt), but there were too many obstacles associated with it.

What I have speculated for the last year is that she would be drafted at the convention due to the prospective nominee not having sufficient support. The reason that Clinton appointed McAuliffe to head the DNC was to ensure that the "fix" for Hitlary was in. For all her blather, she can't wait until '08 because she needs to be re-elected to the Senate and, for several months, that has appeared to be less likely. Hitlary has lost substantial support in NY and her re-election in '06 is not assured. Without the Senate position as a launching platform, a Hitlary candidacy is toast on arrival.

IMO, the strategy is becoming clear. McAuliffe pushed the Dem primaries up in hopes that Dems would elect a "pig in a poke" and that's what they got. Kerry got swept into the position of prospective nominee before Dems really had a chance to learn anything about him. Now, as his baggage is being exposed to the public, Kerry is becoming his own worst enemy everytime he opens his mouth. In addition, Bubba's planned book release is timed specifically to steal the thunder from the Dem convention and Kerry's nomination. The press will fawn over his book and open the door for renewed passion to draft Hitlary.

Kerry, IMO, is not going to be the Dem nominee; Hitlary is.
