[history]
There are times in history when we are faced with great questions of what type of civilization and what type of world we will have. Now is one of those times. The world of our future will either be a place where differences are tolerated or where religion is exploited to create a place that is unsafe for all.

I heard about this on the morning radio. Apparently about 250 people showed up, the majority of which WERE NOT muslim.
The paper interviewed a couple of generic Kerryesque peace activists, etc.
I suppose nothing more should have been expected.

Why Muslims should rally against terrorism is easy...the real question is that they don't.

There is a confusion in the American mind of how the Muslim community regards those who would target and kill innocent noncombatantsThere is no confusion.
There have been exactly three types of responses to terrorism from the "Muslim Community".
1. More sermons preaching "Death to the Infidels"
2. I am against terrorism, but, blah, blah blah, Israel, blah, blah, blah...
3. Silence.
I know exactly where the "Muslim Community" stands.

nice summary. I wonder if they say to each other.."you know there are 120 wars going on in the world and 110 of them are because of our muslim insurgencies"..."Wow. Maybe WE are the problem Muhammed.?"

come on...they rally all the time for terrorism.....

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,,br> So-oldier ~of~ the Queen! -Rudyard Kipling

"We want to reassure the American public that the great majority of Muslims condemn the targeting of innocents by virtue of the tenets of our faith. We also want to give hope and inspiration to faithful Muslims all over the country that this type of rally is possible."
"It is time now for Muslims to take back their faith and identify those who are not part of Islam and have lost their moral compass. Their martyrdom is fabricated under the guidance of principles that are not Islamic. To suggest even one circumstance of justification is to violate the principle of God."
Dr. Jasser is trying to bring muslims together to speak out against the radical, fanatics who call themselves muslims. That's a good thing.

Why Muslims should rally against terrorism is easy...the real question is that they don't.The same reason a lot of people won't testify against the mob. Doing so tends to be hazardous to one's health.

Not only the mob, but the same reason that one doesn't become a whistleblower against the govt., business etc.
One may not necessarily lose his life but most probably would lose his livelihood.
I was putting air in my tire yesterday when a young Muslim drove up and asked where he could find a mechanic to check under his car. He had the robe and small round cap of his faith, not uncommon in my Baltimore suburban neighborhood. I saw his wife and small children in back of the new SUV.
I told him I did not know of a gas station with a mechanic working this late on a Sunday evening. He understood.
The Muslim community in my neighborhood has their own school and Mosque, the women shop at Superfresh and work at Wal-mart. Like most of us in the area, they are living well.
Good people living a good life.
So why does it seem that Islam wants to destroy all of that , to push these people and me back a hundred years, and they accept the terrorism because their religious leaders have told them this must happen.
Why are they willing to give up what they have achieved in this great country.
Why aren't they saying something. Before the good may all go away
To: catonsville
See # 13.
People think they're immune, it won't happen to them, and the people living 'the good life' don't want to jeoparize it. If our government would make a bigger effort to get rid of more or the radicals, then the average muslims just trying to live like everyone else wouldn't be so afraid to speak out.

No, I think that's a bit premature. He's only 1 guy in 1 city. Even if he succeeded, that's not many. It's going to take some time, and help from Washington to get rid of the radicals and fanatics we have living here.

Well, I wish I had more info. I'm hoping Dr. Jasser will post something on his web site about it soon.
Even if the majority weren't muslim, nice to know people showed up at an Anti- terrorist rally in support.

Rather, what increasingly troubles Americans is the absence of any palpable mass movement in the American Islamic community condemning outright the targeting and killing of innocent civilians.
There have been exactly three types of responses to terrorism from the "Muslim Community". 1. More sermons preaching "Death to the Infidels" 2. I am against terrorism, but, blah, blah blah, Israel, blah, blah, blah... 3. Silence. Well Nu and Dino, it's not everyday when I can agree with both of you, and a Muslim cleric! what our Imam has given us is a blinding glimpse of the obvious. There is no mass movement, ergo it is not "palpable." No confusion there, alhumdoolillah.
Now where I agree with Nu and the Imam is that there should be one. I'll wait a while longer. As they say in the Middle East, the Muslims will condemn their terrorists, Bookrah pa Bookrah Inshallah. Tomorrow, maybe day after tomorrow, Allah willing.
What I would really like to see from the learned and holy one (any old Imam would do) is a fatwah condemning al qaida, HAMAS, and suicide bombers.
