JAKARTA — Indonesian police on Monday questioned jailed Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, linked to the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) militant group, as a suspect in the 2002 Bali bombings.
Early this month, the chief of the National Police anti-terror division, Pranowo said "there is additional, new evidence showing his possible involvement" in the Oct 12, 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, referring to the testimonies of "many witnesses" who are against Bashir. (Kyodo News)
