CLINTON, Iowa -- Authorities are investigating what may have been a homemade bomb found near an Alliant Energy substation in Clinton.
Firefighters and police were called the substation Friday night after a report was received that discarded chemicals found at the site may have been a homemade bomb. The street was blocked off and investigators from the state fire marshal's office responded to the scene.
Police say no additional information is available and that fire marshals are continuing their investigation.
Clinton is about 40 miles northeast of Davenport.
Sure looks like they jumped right on this.

Clinton emergency services officials were investigating a report of a possible homemade bomb placed near an Alliant Energy substation Friday night, according to Clinton Fire Department officials. The incident started when fire officials were called to the substation on the 100 block of North Second Street at about 8:30 p.m. on a report of discarded chemicals. Police received a report that the discarded items could be a homemade bomb. At that point, traffic was blocked off in the North Second Street area, and the state fire marshal's office was called to the scene. An official from the state fire marshal reportedly arrived at the substation at around 11:15 p.m. Friday. Fire officials said more information would be released after the state fire marshal investigated the incident. See Monday's Clinton Herald for more information on the incident
