All the while, 'pro-choice' marchers were walking behind our lines with the permission of police.
The same thing happened where I was too. In fact, Cybill Shepherd and some other "celebs" walked right behind us.
Guaranteed, if you guys had crossed into their march, you'd have been arrested.
No guarantee needed. It happened. I was taken into custody for 3 hours for doing exactly that. Our organizer had a permit to allow women who regret their abortions to stand on the Constitution Avenue side of the Mall, but it was revoked a week before the death march by the police. The organizer went to court, represented by the ACLJ, to try to get a temporary restraining order, but lost on appeal. We went anyway, protesting on First Amendment grounds, since the public was still being allowed to float through on the public sidewalks. Since the police were notified in advance of our intentions, 16 of us were arrested and charged with "demonstrating without a permit." I'll go into detail about my whole day tomorrow when I have more energy.

They're playing hardball? That's ridiculous.
Every report I've seen lists the huge numbers. What's with these people? They don't have any regard for the sanctity of life, that's for sure. And I read that list - so many people are NOT on it, there is hope.

There goes our right to gather peacefully.
Makes me angry to read about instances like this one.
That the cops allowed the opposing view unlimited access behind the counter-protest while restricting same movement of counter-protestors is outrageous.
And that in your case they arrested people -it's detrimental to our laws to oppress free speech that way.
