Please don't flame me too much for this comment. There are very few states where the residents have an attitude about where they're from. New York (thanks to New York City), New Jersey, and Texas. The difference is Texas wears their attitude on their sleeve. Many, if not all states have pride, but Texas is a whole different animal.
A friend at work from Indiana PCSed here to San Antonio a number of years back with the Army. His two youngest were born here. When you ask the next youngest (youngest is a newborn) where he was born he says TEXAS. No, what city? TEXAS. When he goes to visit others he makes sure he wants reassurance he hadn't left TEXAS.
I love my Texas attitude.

Nothing you said deserves flaming. You did good. BTW, I'm a native New Yorker (Brooklyn) but when asked "where's Home" it's TEXAS. After all I've lived here 30 years... and that's a huge part of my life. :-)
