The previous 4x4 Soviet BTR-40 was even more similar to the WWII Lend-Lease supplied White M3 Scout Cars combined with the automotive chassis of the GAZ-63 truck chassis. But as noted above, should it become necessary to go off-road, a 6x6 is a much better proposition.
