Wait a minute!

We can't do this and go after the bstrds that way: CBS, ABC, PBS, NBC, plus countless lib rags and OUR HERO of Vietnam John Kerry would go nuts if we could turn the military loose to just kick their asses.

And feed the raghead prisoners pork, or they starve.

Wouldn't the ACLU howl about that!

"run over people and shoot things, not necessarily in that order."
Sounds like a plan!
Maybe he can train up others on the maint portion, have him hand pick the maint crews out of those he trains?

One reason I'm looking at foreign nationals as a part of the maintenance role is to get ahold of some of them both familiar with their own systems and with training foreign personnel on the maintenance requirements thereof. But I've got a potential maintence NCO supervisor who's going through a nasty divorce and wouldn't mind leaving CONUS for a half year or so, can wrench on anything from a lawnmower to an airliner and taught Harrier and Presidential Lift Flight maintenance...and is conversant in Russian and has worked with IL76 and L39 aircraft meckaniki.

We may have to consider him a Marine warrant officer equivalent rather than a motor officer per se, and accordingly call him *gunner* rather than *sir.* That'll work.

We thought this through a few months back as a possible mobile DOD OPFOR force that could travel to NG CITS sites and cause grief and consternation via realism in exercises. But this would certainly save on MILES equipment....

Grief and consternation, sounds like fun!
Going to have to mull this over a little more overnight.
Interesting idea.
Especially with the ideas on modding equipment.

Prisoners? Ha, you are such a kidder....

Wouldn't the ACLU howl about that!

First deal with the facing enemy. Then turn and deal with those attacking your flanks.

There is absolutely no reason I can think of that we don't have all of our Humvees with armor plating. Increase the pay for each armored Humvee by 5 and contract it out to any qualified company in the country. They should be pushed out 24/7!

Pretty close. Except for 60mm M19 mortar rounds instead of frags for the crew chief.

You let me fly torque and I'll throw anything you like out of that aircraft... :O)

Hey, hey !!! even better...

We really have thought this through pretty carefully. I'm sure there'll be some limitations on what's available and usable, particularly given that we're talking about the gun escorts being in close proximity to fuel bowsers, some of which could have developed sudden leaks. That's one reason we thought the idea of having a couple of LOHs or KA52s was particularly desirable, even given the potential for SAM7/14 fire or other MANPADS.

But the better and more overlaspping the capabilities and equipment can be, the better off in the event of a shortfall or absence of any one piece of the puzzle. Redundancy and polyvalence are the mutual watchwords here....

Noted. Proposed rotary air wing of four MD-500 Defender or equivalent LOH, plus two Kamov Ka-50 *Black Eagle* or Ka-52 *Alligator* helos for muscle.

You'll throw anything desirable out of the birds? Okay... See Oldtimer's post #81 for a list of some suggestions.

Sounds like fun.
Target rich environment.

And did I see mentioned a package based on the 20 foot modular cargo container with all kinds of goodies involved?

You reckon you redlegs can fit and work with a few 81mm tubes in something like that with the roof removed? 8 feet wide by 20 feet long... and have I got a clever little stinger figured out for the scorpion's tail....

Fox Armored Car

Fox CVR-W to the Brits, if you please. The 30mm main gun likely won't be needed, but some other novelties could be fit in the same place nicely. Three are said to fit nicely within a C130, 2 if rigged for airdrop.

12,000 Pounds per, used from Marcus Glenn in Linclonshire. Not a staple of the operation, I'd think, but possibly a trio for response work, if required. Powered with a 4.2 Liter gasoline Jag engine, however, and some work replacing that six-banger with a Diesel would be a sensible idea, I'd think.

Each vehicle will be manned by three personnel.

Does that mean you can't have more than three in the same vehicle?

I should hope they want a minimum of three each. I'd expect two up front, two in back, minimum with a BTR-152. If fitted with a twin .50 or DShK mount, that'd be 5 per. Figure 6 per crew, with one on the base camp pulling radio watch for his vehicle, on R&R, training, recovering from shots, etc. That should keep enough for meeting that minimum requirement of 3 each easily enough, with some maintenance and admin personnel sitting in sometimes to pick up some of the bonus pay for *on the road* days.

The enemy within is more dangerous IMO. Just look back at the father of American appeasement of militant islamists, Jimmuh Cahtuh. He alone, 25 years ago (today?), created and then propitiated the islamist problem we have today. Thanks Jimmuh. That's all we need from you, you can leave the planet now.

Sure 'nuff. Likewise the rifles carried inside the camp perimeter are carried with loaded magazines outside the mag well.

Oh, I LIKE that one....

Kinda hard to cut a stencil for it, though...

[saved to disk anyway- there are lots of decal/vinyl stick-on alternatives]

Additionally, each security person in the vehicle shall have a personal automatic rifle that is approved by the Government.
