THIS IS GOING to come as a nasty shock to those who know me, and to those who are sure they do, but I think Dr. Laura Schlessinger might be on to something.
The blunt and conservative talk radio phenomenon has churned out yet another book, and even its title is designed to irritate: The Proper Care & Feeding of Husbands (Harper-Collins, $24.95).
Feminists can be counted on to pull their hair out in handfuls at what this title suggests. And men are going to feel more like the family pet than the lord of the realm.
Dr. Laura doesn't waste a minute getting to her main point and, as quickly as the introduction, she quotes a male caller as follows: "Men are only interested in two things: If I'm not horny, make me a sandwich."
I'm not sure which sex should feel worse about that characterization, but what follows is an amalgam of Defending the Caveman and The Surrendered Wife: Make your man feel more like a man and he will make you feel more like a woman.

And men are going to feel more like the family pet than the lord of the realm. That's a risk I'm willing to suffer. It's kinda hard to get that "lord of the realm" feeling when all you get is b!tching and nagging after 12 hours at the office.
I cook meals, I do the dishes, I do the laundry, I pick up after myself, and I bring home flowers. Sure, I ain't perfect, but every once in a while, I wouldn't mind being treated like I was...
Bow-wow.

I wouldn't mind being treated like I was... Bow-wow. For many who lost it, the pendulum may be swinging back toward a more loving family environment.

"Men are only interested in two things: If I'm not horny, make me a sandwich." One of the tenants of modern civilization.

I was brought up in the era of the Sensitive Guy (who appears to have evolved into the Metrosexual). The women at the university I went to were almost all nerdy overachievers - most of my old girlfriends are "married" to their careers.
It is very refreshing to see my son play Pop Warner and dream of being a college quarterback, and my daughter, while also a very high achiever, is both thoroughly feminine and has the intellect to complain about the "didactic white guilt Newberry Award books" they assign for reading in 7th grade. They will both do very well, but they will lead differt lives. That is as it should be.

I like Dr. Laura. If you ever listen toher radio show, you will find she is no-nonsense about the differences between men and women and understands the natural desires/needs of both, sans this twisted PC world we live in. I'm fortunate in that I have a loving wife who allows herself to be a woman and me to be a man, in fact she insists on that arrangement.

Dr Laura speaks a lot of truth.

Dr. Laura also makes another point about morals worth pondering.......women have the "ultimate" power...from womb (mother) to vagina (sex), men are "judged and approved" by women.... What women dont allow, men wont do! Men behave badly when women accept it.....or in a nut shell..."The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world"...To make my point...Any guys here that weren't positively influenced by their Moms??????

This is why feminists are liars. It can't be power they're after, they've always had it. It has to be a deep seated hatred for strong families, which in turn leads to a strong nation, which in turn spells doom for socialism.
Scratch any of these groups that make up the Democratic Party and you'll find anti-American motives.

Even if it is his fault, he isn't clever enough to fix it. In my situation, this is exactly right.

Exactly! I've made "Husband Tolerating" an olympic sport! What's the alternative?

I think what Dr. Laura is saying is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" The Golden Rule. Common courtesy. We have to accept that men and women do not think and act alike. And that's OK. In fact, it's more than OK. Couples need to stop competing with each other and work together. After 30 years of marriage hubby and I FINALLY understand this. It Works, trust me!
