And yet we waste our resources in these fruitless invasions and empire builing? A. We don't know if Iraq and Afghanistan are fruitless invasions or not -- it is a long term strategy and the results are not clear yet. B. It is not "empire building" -- the US has no desire to conquer territory (or oil), but to create a better (and hopefully safer for us in the long run) Middle East.
