I am going to start a regular horse-chat thread on Monday, for people to share their knowledge and talk horse issues on Free Republic. I always enjoy talking to other horse people here!
Let me know if you want to be on a ping list to keep track of such a thread!

When we are set up on our dream farm..... I'd like to reserve a spot for fostering cases like this.

I would love to do the same - have a place for neglected and abused animals. But right now I would really love to have 5 mins alone with this useless piece of pond scum. I think I could teach him a thing or 2 about what it feels like to be abused.

Thirty years ago I worked with a guy like this. It was a good part of a year before I found out his nickname was Appaloosa John, 'cuz he like Appaloosa's. A really nice guy, good to work with.
One day he was late, said he had to make arrangements with the Sheriff to feed his horses. Long story short, he WASN'T feeding his horses, (he had about 80 Appaloosa's spread accross the county) someone rightly turned him in, and the Sheriff feed his horses until Appaloosa John went to court, where he lost most of his horses.
Very rough guy, seemed likable though. That is until I found out what he really was like.

I just came in from bandaging one of my horse's legs.
She got caught in some wire and stripped about a four inch patch of hide off her fetlock. Nasty!

Humphress also said he wasn't happy with the care that his horses have received since they were taken away from him in February
This must be an abuser's SOP, get caught abusing children/animals and then feign concern for their well-being.
