After looking into the mindset (in concrete) of the Islamic fanatics and considering their tribal proclivities, I say without any emotionalism that the best thing for us and the rest of the world is to put them down like rabid dogs. With them there is no peaceful coexistance nor successful appeasements. With them it is either our subjugation under their heels in the name of their god or death. They leave no alternatives and will not or can not vary from their all-consuming fanaticism.
Helping them meet their deity as quickly as possible is the only way to minimize our ongoing casualties and ,ultimately, the most meciful thing we can do for highly dangerous people who are clearly unfit to live in anything we recognize as civilization.
I know the President has to "give" a certain amount in this world to maintain America'a influence in it. What he doesn't seem to recognize is exactly where taking a hard stance will help us more than trying to make all sides happy (a malady common to politicians of every stripe). Just as he'd garner a larger Hispanic vote by enforcing our border (and correcting a grevious wrong while doing so), he would be taken far more seriously by other world leaders if he let loose the dogs of war. Perhaps we'll see a different Bush after the election who will let our service people succeed in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are not trained to lose and deserve better than being confined to wiping noses and dodging shrapnel.

Dear President Bush,
America is sick to death of your patient attitude. We are fed up with your administration's predeliction for turning an armed conflict into an opportunity for negotiation with irrational, hate-filled murderers.
Further, we are tired of seeing this constant stream of American deaths reported in the media.
Turn A-Sadr's "mosque" into the Grand Canyon. He will never behave. He is a fanatic.
Turn Fallujah into a graveyard. Demand an evacuation. Allow no weapons to leave. Assume that all who remain are committed terrorists, and MOAB them into the dirt.
If Mr. Al-Sistani cannot handle this rational solution to terrorist agitation, he is not a rational man, and cannot be counted on to contribute to the development of a pro-American government anyway. He is our friend or he is our enemy. Tell him so in no uncertain terms.
It is time to teach Iraq the lesson losers always must lose in war. We, the winners, are your betters. Accept our terms or die.

he would be taken far more seriously by other world leaders if he let loose the dogs of warPres Bush (as are we) is hated, feared, maybe even secretly admired by the rest of the world anyway - so let the dogs off the porch. What has the rest of the world ever done for the USA anyway? Ever. We have been a friend without that friendship reciprocated and like an old dog, we keep giving without question. What's wrong with letting the rest of the world go to hell in their own handbasket?

I am for the institution of democracy in Iraq with the minimum amount of civilian casualties.
The destruction of major cities and the subjugation by force of the Islamacists will require alot more force and fire power than we are using right now.
The "1945" use of force on Japan, just for example, resulted in a vibrant democracy, a free society, good will and comity towards America to this day, and resulted in LESS deaths than a U.S. invasion (Operation Olympic type) would have cost.
Oh, yes - - a lot fewer of our boys lost their lives too.
If Bush can't figure this out, he should be kicked out of office.
If we wait long enough the next A-bomb will be an Islamic one, detonated in Washington, and then we will destroy several countries - but it will be too late for our citizens.

How would the liberals have handled the Kamakazi pilots in WW2?They would have expressed solidarity with the brave 'freedom fighters' crashing into their American oppressors, of course.

I agree with you. It's time to stop worrying about whether they think we're "respectful" - it's time to kill the enemy and make Iraq safe for those who want to see real freedom.

I don't understand why you send a boarding party to a suspicious boat docked at an oil terminal, particularly since we know they rammed a boat full of explosives into the Cole. Why in the h#ll use this approach??? I just sometimes have to wonder.

Yes, boarding a suspicious boat after the Cole experience was foolish. I guess we needed just one more painful lesson. Officer of the deck probably ordered it. If any sailor had questioned it: insubordination.

Why in the h#ll use this approach??? I just sometimes have to wonder. If the commander of a U.S. naval ship ordered this boarding party, he should be summarily cashiered out of the service. Does he understand "suicide bombers"? And he sent his men into that scenario? The boat should have been blown out of the water.

What a load, send boarders out to look? If the proper ROE for a TRUE war were in place, they would have been stopped with a missile or RPG. How many of ours died because of pollitical weakness?
