BOSTON, April 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today at a press conference in the Vatican, Cardinal Francis Arinze was asked if a priest should refuse communion to a politician who is unambiguously pro-abortion. He responded, "Yes. If the person should not receive it, then it should not be given. Objectively, the answer is there." There has been a controversy in the United States on whether Catholic presidential candidate John Kerry should receive communion.

YCV President Ray Flynn made the following statement regarding Cardinal Arinze's remarks:

"Cardinal Francis Arinze is a thoughtful and well-respected Catholic Church leader whose opinion is widely valued. The Cardinal's comments today at the Vatican reflect the view of many Catholics in the United States.

"I have known and worked with him for many years. His statement will certainly be taken seriously by faithful Catholics."

Ambassador Flynn is the national president of Your Catholic Voice, former U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican from 1993 to 1997 and former mayor of Boston.

Wait a minute. We know that rules of law don't apply to Liberals, why should the rule of God?

This was followed up with an article in NEWSDAY today quoting some priests who say this doesn't apply to politicians in New England who's behavior is just personal.
They will not be penalizing for being pro-abortion. This is a scandal to believing Catholics. I for one am no longer going to call myself a member of the Catholic Church in the US, but to the ROMAN Catholic Church. All my collection money is being held in escrow and unless someone speaks up for my former Church and why Kerry et all should not be excommunicated, I'm funding the pro-life candidate: George W Bush. Either one is Catholc or one is pro-abortion. . . he can NOT be both. If the Church disagrees with that, tell me what other commandments are no longer valid besides 'Thou shall not kill!'

Cardinal Arinze is of course correct according to docterine. He is totally correct. However few American prelates, bishops or priests will pay any attention to what he said because the Catholic Church in America thumbs its nose at the Vatican every day, in every way 365/24/7.

The Vatican and the Catholic Church in America are two different entities. Sometimes they have things in common and that is fortunate and pleasant happenstance. However a signficant percentage of the American Catholic clergy do what they feel like doing. That is just the way it is.

Kerry left his first wife and maried Theresa Heinz, Did he first get an annullment? I have wondered about this does anyone know?

I know annullments arent hard to get if you have money, Aristotle Onassis got one so he could buy Jackie in marriage for 12 million dollars, and Fat Ted got one after 25 years with the same wife so he could get a younger wife. One he hadnt turned into an alcoholic yet. Fat Ted another so-called Catholic who dosnt take his Catholicism very seriously .

Arinze bump!

Newsmax has a story about this: http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/4/23/113329.shtml

I looked but didn't see it posted anywhere else here. Someone may want to make a thread about it. I haven't because I'm sure I just missed it in my search or some such thing. :)

John (Catholic In Name Only) Kerry NEVER had his first marriage annuled.

John (I support a woman's right to choose!) Kerry NEVER married Heinz in a Catholic ceremony.

John Kerry is guilty of one of the most grievous sins - ADULTERY.

The hardest thing to bear for the gallant pro-life warriors of the Catholic Church in America, who have led the way and shown the way to the rest of us, must be that their bishops by their words and by their actions have shown that they don't believe a word of Church teaching on this issue.
