Placing a bet that Toomey can replace Specter in the Senate if he wins the nomination has a higher expected payoff than playing the slots in Vegas. If Toomey has a chance to win do you think Bush, Rove, and Santorum would be suporting Spector?
To think you know what you are talking about one has to assume that Bush,Rove and Santormum would prefer a RINO that often votes against them to a Conservative who would always vote for them.
The only reason that Bush, Rove, and Santorum are supporting Spector is they desperately need an R in Pa to hold control of the senate. They are convinced that Toomey would lose to Hoefel.
You used to be able to think, Torie. Have you been taking those dumb classes again? Try not to ace them.
To: Common Tator
You flatter me as to assuming my age. My years of taking classes, gut or otherwise, are long over.
Team Bush is supporting Specter because to not do so would cause problems for them in the Senate among other Pubbies there. It is a matter of decorum. They would do it even if Specter was a lower odds on winner than Toomey in the General, unless matters were really extreme. Didn't Bushrove support that pathetic creature Smith of NH? He was taken down, and we are the better for it.

Team Bush is supporting Specter because to not do so would cause problems for them in the Senate among other Pubbies there. Absolute Garbage and you surely know it. Everyone who has been in politics more than an half hour knows that a Presidents power with members of his party in the Senate comes from an ability to elect and defeat candidates at the polls.
If Bush felt Toomey could win nothing could give Bush more power with the remaining RINOs in the senate than to defeat Spector and elect a conservative in his place. No RINO up for election in 2006 or 2008 would dare to look cross eyed at Dubya... for fear Dubya would do it to him.
You can fool the ignorant Torie... but don't try the "Can't Offend RINOs" crap on me. I know better. I learned how to play the Senate game from LBJ. He was the all time champ. And if they get FR in hell, LBJ is laughing his a$$ off at your silly Post.
Didn't you go to Michigan? I seem to recall you were cheering for some Michigan team when Woody Hayes had a football rammed up some sort of depression in your anatomy. I seem to recall that you were thereafter referred to as the girl with the leather (something or other).... It could help explain why all that excrement comes out of your mouth.
To: Common Tator
The best thing I liked about Woody "ball control" Hayes, was how his muscle bound team collapsed against a good passing game, particularly as passed out by the Pac 10. Woody didn't like Pasadena.
You failed to address why team Bush endorsed Smith. Why was that?
You might get a coronary if Toomey wins, because it is going to be tight right up to the November election, and it might lead to chest pains for you just thinking about all the crow you might have to chow down if Toomey takes the gold.
You probably also won't like it if Specter wins the primary, because by the General it will also be tight I suspect, and you might not like you sale of the "Specter solution" to all that ails being caught out as a bill of goods. I suspect it will be lose-lose for you either way, as an odds on proposition. Definitely better than the slots. Cheers.

"will crazy Cynthia get her seat back..and will Majette get the Senate nomination?.." Sorry to be so long in answering. I think the answer to both questions is probably yes.
"the image of Kerry and McKInney on the dais together is a great photo op, no?..he'll have to be asked if he repudiates her....and her comments"
If she gets the nomination (likely) the photo op is almost certain to happen. I don't expect the question to be asked before the debates. I hope it is asked then, but for the Atlanta "token appearance" I look for a free ride for both of them.

LOL - Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback...so, will Majette endorse McKinney?...That's gonna be a real hard one to wiggle out of..

The only reason that Bush, Rove, and Santorum are supporting Spector is they desperately need an R in Pa to hold control of the senate. They are convinced that Toomey would lose to Hoefel. With all due respect, if Bush, Rove and Santorum so badly wanted Specter to win on Tuesday, they would be stumping PA right now. Are Bush, or Cheney or Rove in PA this critical weekend? Santorum may be, but he does live here. My impression, collectively they did their 'duty' supported the incumbent (wink, wink) and now Snarlin' Arlen is left to his own devices.
I saw something in the Pittsburgh Trib (last week I think) about the amount of $$$ was being spent on the Senatorial campaign. Specter cha-ching rings in at over 15 million dollars (plus the Pres stumping two weeks ago)!!! Toomey, by contrast, around 3 million. Now when Toomey wins on Tuesday you really don't think that the Republican party is just going to throw up their hands and say 'that's it...PA is gone.' No. If Toomey can generate these kinds of number and this kind of support on a shoestring (compared to the Scottish one) imagine what Pat could do with $$$ and the Pres.? Just asking...

Gotta disagree with you on this one.
Normally, I would agree with your reasoning - altho 'far right' is used too often to mean anyone who isn't a liberal republican.
But Specter is a worthless piece of horse dung. This is the only race in the country where, if it comes to it, I would prefer to see a demoncrat elected than the republican incumbant. Every once in a while, you have to do something to indicate a republican senator needs to vote occassionally with republicans. And Specter is so stridently opposed to everything republicans believe in that we need to take him out - no matter the cost!

I sort of think you're right. I know there was some recent issue on which I was startled that CT was so wrong, and so insistently wrong; but I don't remember what it was, so didn't guess.

Sure, I can say "hypocrite." I can say all sorts of words.
Why do you ask? And what does that have to do with Schwarzenegger?

Can anyone here write why I should financially support Pat Toomey? I'm not fishing for a smart-a$$ answer, I'd really like to know.
To: Veritas_est
We can only hope. I will be dancing in the streets if this mole is finally sent packing.

Here you are proud of the pro life stance. When Arnold was running you glossed over that and was one of his biggest supporters. I call that hypocrisy - Biblical Christian - LOL!

I'm embarrassed for you. That makes no sense at all. Are you forgetting my
painstaking, detailed essay on my rationale for reluctantly supporting Schwarzenegger? Or do you simply not grasp the difference between a primary (which this is) and a real-live election (which that was)?
Either way, this doesn't reflect well on you.

Even if Toomey loses, he will have done Conservatism a Great Thing, by getting Specter off of the Judiciary Commitee just in time.
I must be mistaken, but I thought if Toomey loses Specter automatically becomes chairman of the Judiciary Committee, if he wins against the dem candidate.
