Another headline running at the same time on Drudge:

"CLAIM: Half of Iraqi forces refused to fight during uprising..."

Compare and contrast, folks. Democratic, free America produces the likes of Pat Tillman and other volunteers who risk and sacrifice their lives for others. Meanwhile, Saddam's Iraq produced a slew of cowards who won't fight for their very own country. America's glory is their shame. Shame on those cowards.

Sent to the governor and ASU:

"In honor of Pat Tillman, the fallen US Army Ranger and former ASU & Arizona Cardinal football player, I would like to add my voice to those encouraging the renaming of Sun Devil Stadium to Pat Tillman Stadium.

I feel this is a fitting honor for a brave man who literally gave all for his country while serving in Afghanistan. He is truly an American hero whose name would only bring honor to the stadium in which he played."

NO! Tillman wanted to be only a soldier. He did not want special treatment, and Bush will be wise to treat his death as no more or less than anyone else who gave their life for us. Bush should and will stay away.

Agreed, as Rush is saying right now, they are all heros, equal in this instance that they are volunteering their lives for our way of life. The only action the President should take is to win this war and do it in the most efficient manner.

I just want to say a heartfelt "thank you" to Pat Tillman, his brother and their parents and, if the Tillman brothers were married, to their families. As far as I'm concerned, Pat Tillman's heroism ranks right up there with the crew and passengers of Flight 93.

The people on Flight 93 were the first Americans to understand the difference between the pre-9/11 and post-9/11 world. Pat Tillman clearly also did, and chose to demonstrate by his own example the most important priorities of the post-9/11 era.

I know the Left and their media shills refuse to get it. But the rest of us know — or should know — our obligations in this time of great peril for our nation and ourselves. Not all of us can do what Pat Tillman did, and join the Armed Forces. But we can meet our obligations in other ways: By actively supporting the troops or their families; by actively getting off our duffs and helping to reelect President Bush; by lifting our eyes from one or two issues to see the big picture; by refusing to accept the betrayal of that phony 9/11 commission. There are many ways we civilians can join in the fight.

John H K had it first. I was too stunned and stricken to have come up with it.

I have to agree. Any extra accolades belong in the hands of the other places that he spent his time and worked like the NFL and ASU. If they wish to honor him in some other way, it should be left up to them and his family. He should be honored and buried like any other soldier as far as Bush is concerned.
I would add though that I think what perhaps really touches us about Tillman is he is one of those visible examples of the, perhaps minority, I don't know, who got in the armed forces to truly serve their country, not for college or oppurtunities, but to serve others.

....the more the American people hear about this man, the more they will understand.

Our worthless media is currently obsessing over the photos of coffins of our military dead. These are the same people who all but refuse to remind us frequently of what happened on 9/11, and who whined when President Bush used a brief photo of a firefighter's casket in one of his ads. It's going to be up to "average" people like you and me to turn Pat Tillman into the heroic legend he deserved to become.

All the jocks think they're so swell
They can run and kick and pass
But the pampered princes of the NFL
Must stand on ladders to kiss Pat Tillman's ass

I've quickly scanned through many of the posts on this topic and am glad to see that most are giving this man the respect he is due. I'm seeing the word "hero" used repeatedly. But, the one word that most exemplifies this man and others like him, is "patriot". This is a man I'd love to see my children grow up having as a role model. actually, I think he should be a role model to ALL of us. This is indeed a sad, sad day, as is everyday we lose someone who willingly gives the ultimate sacrifice in the service of freedom.
God bless the Tillman family, God bless America, and God bless all of you reading this....And may we never forget, God bless the men and women serving in our armed forces.

You are welcome, I wish I could claim it was mine. I believe it came from 3/75 Rangers. But I thought it is fitting for the moment.
