Ok, I know many of you military people who are a long way from home miss many things. Even though we can't do much about a lot of them, we figured that by having you adopt a needy, one-of-a-kind animal....one that you could call your own.....that would allow you to lavish all the TLC you want ....would help you feel more at home....no matter where in the world you are. So...come on in and take a look around. Stake a claim before someone takes the one you want. Today only.

I'm just a little upset that I didn't make the ranks.

Oh no! I can't believe I see some of my half-breed relatives in this parade. I'm sooooo embarrassed!

I did drive around the base only just a bit on Wednesday afternoon following the load-in of the equipment to the auditorium. But I was afraid of wandering into areas where I really wasn't supposed to go as a civvie. Neat place! Beautiful buildings..... I didn't see any wooden barracks though ;-).

Tell me about that gym on the north side of the marching grounds. It looks huge.

We have some bunnies that are burrowing under the deck in our suburban home. They are eating what I'm planting (flowers, veggies), and I'd like to turn the bunnies into trophies ;-).

The wooden barracks are all gone now. They were leveled in the late 60's. They were so old, that they DIDN'T have fire hoses in them; we were told that they were so dried out that if they caught fire, they would be totally engulfed in 3 minutes!

Haven't been up to Great Lakes in about 25 years; I used to go up there to bring a few sailors home with me to share Thanksgiving. Now, Streamwood (where I live), has them bussed to us to share our Thanksgiving meals.

Sure beats driving 30-40 miles; now it's like 2 miles at the most!
