Shed American blood for foreign oil?

You seem to be the naive one. Americans and people of all nations have died for a patch of land. Seems to me to die for a stable oil supply is just as noble as that. But Iraq is not about that. If it were Bush would have been complaining about Saudi's makeing WMD's and supplying Bin Ladin, not Saddam.

Not when we are failing to peacefully utilize our own natural resouces and advanced technology.

As I stated previously: if not for our dependence on MidEast oil, we'd ignore the Muslim tribal feuds just like we ignore the Hutu and Tutsis in Africa. Despite campaign promises to the contrary, our increasing dependence on petroleum imports has been a bipartisan effort over the last 3 decades. The political "leadership" of both major parties are equally culpable. Until such time that they actually implement a national Energy Policy that agressively reduces our dependency on imports, the blood of Americans stains their hands.
