Go to Windows Explorer, or on the start menu, right click on 'My Computer' - there is a 'System Restore' tab - go in there and click the box that says 'disable System Restore'. Go do your anti-virus work, then when finished go back and uncheck the box.

Under the "start" menu...

Goto "setting" / "control panel"

From the "control panel" start "system"

A small window will appear with four tabs at the top labeled "general", "device manager", "hardware profiles", and "performance".

Goto "performance" and click on the "file system" button. You'll see a new window with 5 tabs across the top. Last on is "troubleshoot".

Goto "troubleshoot" and a list of checkboxes will appear. Last one is "disable system restore".

Keep clicking OK until you've closed all the windows, and then "restart" your computer.

Go back in when you are done and re-enable the system restore.
