I bet Church bells are banned in the same town I wouldn't doubt it.
"Now let's take up the minorities in our civilization, shall we? Bigger the population, the more minorities...All the minor minor minorities with their navels to be kept clean. Authors full of evil thoughts, lock up your typewriters. They did...There you have it Montage...minority pressure carried the trick, thank God."
Fahrenheit 451, Beatty explaining the origin of the firemen.
The coming tyranny of the left. It's just a matter of time before Christianity is banned, sad really that no one seems to care.

Church bells are the closest analogy to the Islamic call to prayer, and I assume most Freepers would not and do not object to church bells, so why the outrage? I understand the concern, that the Islamic call to prayer blaring out over mid-America has disquieting implications, but as a matter of law or policy, can we defend allowing church bells while banning the Islamic prayer call? Maybe someone can point out a distinction that I'm missing . . .

According to reports, there were comparisons made between the church bells and the "call to prayer" and the Christian residents were prepared to eliminate the church bells because they were not really religiously significant.
