Kerry's gassy allegations
Washington Times ^ | 4/20/04 | Op/Ed

This week, Sen. John Kerry accused the administration of playing global politics with gas prices. Under scrutiny, that scandalous charge raises more questions about Mr. Kerry than President Bush.

The source of the allegations was Bob Woodward's recently published book, "Plan of Attack." Mr. Woodward wrote that the Saudis planed "to fine-tune oil prices to prime the economy in 2004." Mr. Kerry seized upon the text to accuse Mr. Bush of making a "secret deal" with the Saudis to reduce oil prices in time for the election.

Can anyone explain what the Kerry camp is thinking? The conventional wisdom is that once you lock up the nomination you "run" for the center. Kerry is running even harder for the wacko kook left frindge instead! Is this guy REALLY this stupid? Does he REALLY think it is still 1972 in this country?

Could "gas" be the reason for the grin?

Kerry must get his tin foil hat custom made, like he does with his Prada loafers.

Post your reasons why you support John Kerry here!!

Being FOR John Kerry and AGAINST George W. Bush are not mutually exclusive. Frankly, I would vote for Carrot Top if he ran against GWB; but thankfully that won't be necessary. I have never been as motivated to vote FOR someone in my entire life as I am motivated to vote for John Kerry (and I volunteer for him, too) We could have chosen any one of the 10 candidates who ran for the Democratic nominaiton. The majority of us chose John Kerry (and those who didn't make him their first choice are now here too).

*****

In a word we (my family and I) support him because he will protect social security and medicare. (main reason)

In addition:

He gives me confidence that we will be safer from terroism under his leadership than under the current leadership.

I believe him when he says that he will stop the outsourcing of jobs and begin to produce more jobs in this country again.

I trust him when he says that he will have a balanced budget once again, and I trust him that he will not waste tax money the way bush is.

He is not the loose cannon that bush has proved himself to be and Kerry will take appropriate action in going to war when there is proof of the danger to our country.

I can see that he has more intelligence in his little finger than bush can ever hope to have and that will make for a better leader one that will be respected in other countries again instead of taking the bullying route like mr. cowboy does.

I trust that he does care for the "litle guy" out there and understands our problems and our fears.

He appears to be strong willed without, again, playing the bully on the block.
Strength of character (bush will never have).

We can keep our taxcuts and make the rich pay their fair share. Keeping our taxcuts is very important.

To sum up I believe in his integrity, honesty, strength of character to lead this country.

The main reason why I want to vote for John Kerry, is because I believe that he will stand up for our troops. Being a military member myself, it is a very scary thought that one day my family might get the call that I will not be returing home alive. Please understand that I love America and all the endless possibilities that she has to offer, and I am willing to fight! But my parents always told me that in life you have to choose your battles wisely! The war against Iraq was clearly a bad judgement call. I do not hold that decision against President Bush personally, because I too sometimes act out of emotion. But I will be, as well as for my entire family be voting for John Kerry. I truley believe that he will bring the rest of our troops(the one's that are still alive) home saftely where they belong.

P.S. Yes this is only my opinion, but alot of military members agree with this opinion. So just maybe it holds a little ring of truth.

I too, am supporting John Kerry in large part due to Howard Stern. I contributed to his campaign - now if he will only stand up and fight for free speech, I will most certainly vote for him.

I am certain that millions of Howard Stern fans are considering John Kerry, and if he would only fight against this "indecency" garbage, Howard would fully endorse him and his followers would listen.

*****

I support John Kerry because he is a man who has courage and character to lead the United States into the family of nations.

I have supported Kerry since the 1980s. That was when I first got serious about politics/world events.
1. He led the Iran/Contra hearings and opposed Reagan/Bush Sr. war policies there against the democratically elected Sandinistas (1984 fair election) in Nicaragua, and the whole Central America death squad thing. And he was the one who nailed Ollie North!

2. He's the Senate's #1 environmentalist who will move us into a new clean fuel economy and away from dependence on foriegn oil.

3. He will stop the export of jobs overseas by penalizing Corporations that do and rewarding those that don't.

4. He will crack down on the Oil and Pharmaceutical companies who profit at expense of environment and peoples' lives.

5. I like him. He's Kennedyesque, brings a fresh new outlook to things, and he played in a rock band as a teen (The Electras, album now sells for $2500 on eBay).

6. His wife Teresa, who's into holistic health and Eastern Philosophy and speaks 5 languages. How cool is that?! (compare with Barbara Bush).

7. He will continue the legacy taken from us so long ago in Dallas. We were cheated out of Kennedy's vision for a positive future and here's our 2nd chance for that.

8. He will make healthcare affordable for all Americans.

9. He will go after terrorism in an effective and non-haphazard way, rejoining the world community of Nations, rejoining the UN and hunting down terrorists with intelligence, rather than striking countries like Iraq which puts out the terrorism fire with gasoline.

10. He will fix NAFTA to include fair labor and environmental standards.

11. George W. Bush, Ashcroft, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, Pearl, and Wolfowitz, to name a few.

12. He's anti-death penalty (except for terrorists), pro-gun control (except for hunters, though I don't like hunting myself), and pro-choice.

13. He was a decorated war hero in Vietnam, then had the integrity to come home and help stop a war he knew was wrong.

14. He's intelligent, honest, outspoken, strong, a Harley-Davidson rider, a decent guitarist, a good ice hockey player.

Many more reasons, but there are just a few.

On the day John Kerry announced his intention, I was on board with John Kerry! There are now more reasons than ever before, but even on the day 1, I saw that John Kerry spoke elegantly to people, without pandering and with conviction. Hew provided a stark contrast to Bush, the bumbling, unsure, president passing for folksy guy. I also knew that in the juncture, our country is in, we needed a man of experience, a world view and definitely a senator, because we couldnt have a Governor or a congressman with only a parochial interest and experience.(Remember, how even the most brilliant Bill Clinton had a tough first 2 years in learning the ropes?).

We definitely need to elect a Senator with experience, intelligence and understanding of this country's inner greatness as President, now more than ever!
That is John Kerry!

John Kerry was my candidate from the beginning. Before he even announced, l saw the guy giving a speech on the Senate floor against drilling in Alaska, and l thought,"Here's a guy who will stand up for what he believes." He impressed me as a strong individual then, and l think he is BY FAR the most qualified candidate in the party. We should be touting his years of experience in the Senate, because that's exactly what we need in the white house-experience. What do we have now? Somebody who was a failure in business until his daddy bailed him out;who never reads the paper and lacks even basic curiosity about the way the world works, and world events;who is a narrow minded religious zealot that is inflexible and seeks simple solutions to complex problems. ln short, we have a man of substance, intelligence, character and EXPERIENCE against a petty, clueless, mean-spirited, narrow minded PHONY. Could the choice be any clearer? l contributed $300 to the Kerry campaign today and l challenge those of you who haven't yet contributed to do the same. lf you can't match that, give what you can. On to victory!!
