I know it's taboo to speak ill of the dead, so I have to do this quickly, while he's alive. I won't miss him, and I sure won't be showing up at his funeral.

Make that two of us!

I don't care for his politics but he is a fine actor. I recall the "Seven Faces of Dr. Lo". He was wonderful in that one!

Well, I was going to say something nice about the man, but he wouldn't like me either.....

Tony Randall was asked by Johnny Carson what his favorite movie was - the one he starred in and was happiest with.

[note: Carson asked the same of James Stewart - who replied "It's a Wonderful Life",(unknown in the 70's). Carson said "Tell me something about it. I'm not familiar with it". ]

Tony said "The Seven Faces of Doctor Lao".
------
This is one of my Favorite old movies. (released in February of 1964). Tony plays seven roles. Set in the West in about 1910. Lines from this movie have re-appeared in cult movies in the '90s.

Did you think that Tony Randall is in the hospital for biting the President?....ya know, a sort of "kennel" for a bad "dog"?!

Good pointers!

When you ASSUME you make an ASS out of U and ME.

I don't know why, but I always remember Felix writing out the word "ASSUME" on a chalk board or something and saying that line while circling "ASS", "U" and "ME".

I also always liked Al Molinaro as Murray, the police officer...

About 15 years ago, Tony Randall appeared in a corporate instructional video series I wrote, and I got to spend a weekend working around him. He and Steve Allen were the two nicest, most gracious celebrities I ever met, and my job has brought me in contact with a lot of them, good and bad. He was funny and friendly to everyone, answering all our dumb questions, joking flirtatiously with the shy script girl, etc. We had set up a luxurious dressing room for him to have a private lunch, and he said, "Aw, no! I want to eat with the guys!" and he ate at the cafeteria table with the crew, regaling us all with hilarious stories. He even complained that the 4-star hotel suite we provided for him was far more than he needed, and he would have been fine with a room at the Ramada.

And I know he did all this while very worried about his first wife, who had been extremely ill for a long time. I took him to a private office to call her, and he explained to me that he was only taking short jobs like ours so he didn't have to be away from her for long. So if he found happiness and a new family after she passed away, I don't begrudge it to him. He earned some happiness in his personal life.

Granted, I disagree with his politics, which are typical of the Manhattan acting set. But as both a comedic talent and a human being, he deserves the greatest respect and all our prayers for his full recovery.

I too thank you for your rememberance. I had always liked Randall as well, and thought he was the man you described.

But.......I believe that George Bush deserves some respect. Much more than Mr. Randall gave him. Randall's words show a huge lack of class and respect for a man who has selflessly served his office with honor during an extremely difficult time in our history.

You might consider kicking him whenever he does it to someone els. Heis probably big enough to scare people terribly, and you never know how hard he will bite in the future.

But just because space is expanding faster than light doesn't mean that objects imbedded in space are "traveling."
