Friday, April 16, 2004 9:14 a.m. EDT Testy Teresa Tirade: I Can't Believe I Came to America

It didn't take long for the rigors of the campaign trail to sour first lady-in-waiting Teresa Heinz, who fumed yesterday that she "can't believe" she moved to America and married an American politician.

"I can't believe my family left Africa and came to this country," Heinz Kerry complained to the New York Post's Cindy Adams. "I can't believe I ever even married an American."

"A politician's wife has a hard life," she said. "To become more of a 'thing' and less of a person is terrible."

Teresa's tirade continued, "I can't believe I married a second politician." Then referring to her first husband, the late Sen. John Heinz, she blasted: "I can't believe I married the first politician. He wasn't one when we met."

"What people don't know is that I am basically shy. I never wanted to do this," Heinz Kerry complained.

You know, if you lined up DNC comments on the war, Kennedy, Dean, Kerry, Gore, and so forth, and then published Al Jazeera comments, remarks from Bin Ladin's tapes, comments from Hamas leaders and so forth saying almost exactly the same thing, word for word, it might make an interesting TV ad.

It makes you wonder who is getting whose talking points, though.

So take your money and GO!

Well, you see, it wasn't her money to begin with. She inherited it from John Heinz. She should really leave the money with his kids and go anyway.

To be fair, this was nothing more than a stream of consciousness by Teresa Heinz. It was not a condemnation of America.

For heaven sake. Her husband died in a plane accident. His plane had landing gear problems and another pilot offered to fly underneath to check it out. The planes collided and landed on a nursery school playground. At least one child was killed, along with John Heinz.

The entire sad episode was filmed and shown on TV.

Poor judgement and very bad luck. Nothing more.

Then she hopped into her gas guzzling SUV and drove off. Enviro whacko that she is she should be driving a hybrid. But then the elitist she is, it's good for her, but not for YOU.

"I can't believe my family left Africa and came to this country," Heinz Kerry complained to the New York Post's Cindy Adams. "I can't believe I ever even married an American."

Guess I will go and read 'Cindy' to see how she frames this personal disclosure.

No one, NO ONE, with the money that this woman has; can be depressed because she has made a bad choice; nor feel a frustration of being 'disempowered'.

First Lady - NEVER!

Please, please, Theresa; do not stay here, on OUR account. It is clearly way past time for a return to your African roots.

So what will Kerry's campaign say? Oh. . .it was taken out of context. OKay/sure.

There was a big flap a few weeks ago when she insisted that she be referred to in the press as an "African-American". A large number of prominent A-A's loudly objected! Heh heh.

So I suppose she wants to be our first black first lady. LOL.

I failed the test to tell apart the remarks of Al Gore and Unabomber. Remember that one? http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/ken_crossman/Gore.htm

I think your idea of the TV ad is too good to be implemented. The Bush team will have no stomach for it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Portuguese rulers of Mozambique operate the country under a system much like South African Apartheid? If so, where's the outcry over a privileged (and clearly spoiled) child of the twentieth century cousin to American slavery sitting one election away from the White House?

Don't know how they ruled Mozambique, but I know that they left Angola in wonderful shape when they abruptly pulled out. A bloody 3-way civil war started the instant they left in around 1974 or 1975, and it only ended (mostly) in the last couple of years when the head of one faction - Savimbi - was assassinated.

OK .... Here's an African geography trivia question for anyone ---
Entirely from memory, and without the aid of the internet or any maps/globes/atlases sitting nearby, tell us where the African nation of Tanganyika is located. No cheating!
