The silence on this issue is weird. No news on the major networks at all. I think I heard it mentioned briefly on Fox.
Was it really Vx or Sarin??
Sounds like it came from Syria. But Syrian gov't says no way.
Is it Iraqi WMD that got hidden in Syria by Al qaeda?
Is this story still brewing or fading away?
I can't figure it out.

The "mainstream" news organizations are doing their best to bury this story - it wouldn't wear well with Pacifist Kerry's ideas.

What about FoxNews? Why would they bury the story?
Something doesn't make sense.

I hope Assad is cringing...I want that new book "End Game" by the FOXNEWS Military General consultants McInerney and Valleley (Sp?) where they talk about Iran and Syria and how they are meddling in Iraq big time.

I've seen and heard both a few times the last week .. 8 nations are at the core of the mess we are in globally.
My wife was in Vallely's unit (PsyOps) here some years back, heck of a nice fellow.

That is fine, not getting pinged on everything.
This does seem like it could turn into a big story!

Authorities have said the suspects in the earlier raids entered Jordan from Syria, which denies the allegation.Anyone else miss this WMD info? My radio news today was FILLED with a ton of other crap...

No disrespect, A-B, but I don't care how many people are talking about this story. Until there is some confirmation that this so-called "chemical bomb" contained a real WMD agent, such as sarin, tabun, soman, VX, etc., I must continue to remain skeptical. This story has been alive for more than long enough to confirm what the active agent was. Even Jordanian intelligence would have no trouble testing for such well known chemical agents as these.
I have no doubts that Saddam possessed WMD and I have no doubts that they were hidden in Iraq or some other country. But the absence of competent confirmation of the active chemical agent in this Jordanian case, has my BS detector pinging overtime.
You want this story (finding WMD's in Jordon) to be true, I want this story to be true, and everyone except a few whacked-out nutcases want it to be true. But I would suggest we wait till we have some actual confirmation that this is the case, before we start congratulating ourselves.

I agree about the confirmation, but I don't know that it would be that easy. Remember during the War how we would hear reports of positives on the Troops chemical weapons detectors only to find out later that it was not actually chemical weapons.
It could be that the detectors were defective or set so sensitive for safety reasons that they would go off around a drum of pesticide. In any case, there are a variety of chemical agents possible. Some like VX are sophistcated and could not be easily improvised. Cyanide gas could be produced simply as in the old execution chambers where cyanide pellets were dropped into an acid bath that could be improvised.
I don't lend much credence to the Loftus report because I don't have much confidence in anything he says. That said, there have been numerous stories out there mentioning poison gas specifically. At this point we are waiting to find out exactly what was there and the more people aking questions, the more pressure to find out and disclose what, if anything, was there.

"Cyanide gas could be produced simply..." You can write off cyanide as any kind of effective chemical agent of mass lethality ("could have killed 20,000") when dispersed in open areas, especially via a bomb (cyanide doesn't can't take the heat).
Even something as extra-lethal as VX nerve agent would require something on the order of 500 pounds of the stuff to do what has been suggested by the news reports (LD50 is about 10 grams/m^3).
"It could be that the detectors were defective or set so sensitive for safety reasons that they would go off around a drum of pesticide."
For better or worse, the field-grade chemical detectors used by the military are notorious for false positives, maybe on the theory that it is better to be safe than sorry. But the research-grade equipment available to a professional laboratory is a completely different story. I would be shocked if the Jordanian GID did not have such a lab, as it would be an essential component of their mission.
"I don't lend much credence to the Loftus report..."
That can't be repeated too often here on FR. Loftus makes Debka look credible.

Loftus on a roll tonight:
- the mortar attack on the prison was an attempt to free some AQ people there, but they screwed up, and killed them. oh well.
- the fallujah ceasefire does not include protection for the foreign fighters. they will be "dealt with", perhaps even by some element of a re-organized iraqi police/military force.
- the 727 in africa, it had a unique configuration designed to carry diesel fuel (ten 500 gallon fuel tanks). that's why they are worried about it being used as a flying bomb. did they find this plane yet? there seems to be FR threads that indicate that it has been found, is that definitive?
- no further talk about the jordanian WMD. Hmm...
have at it fellows.
