Russian agents have assassinated Abu al-Walid al-Ghamdi, leader of the Al Qaeda rebels in Chechnya.

Walid was considered ultimately responsible by many Russian officials for the wave of suicide bombings in Russia over the past year.

Russian security sources alledge he was paid 4.5 million dollars to set up a suicide bombing of a Moscow train two months ago that killed 41.

He has also been blamed for involvement in the 1999 apartment bombings which prompted Russia to resume war in Chechnya.

Mr. Walid would be the second Saudi extremist to be killed in Chechnya.

In 2002 the security services, the FSB, assassinated another mercenary, Omar Ibn al Khattab by sending him a poison letter.

It just doesn't pay to be the leader of a terrorist organization these days. But I guess there's lots of upward mobility potential for the deputies and underlings.

Actually it hit the wires yesterday. They failed to report this pig was Saudi born. I'm surprised this story was in a government website. The US needs to treat Chechyn Islamofacist like the Taliban.

Good news!

Keep lopping the heads off of the Islamofascist/terrorist multi headed snake while removing funding, and we will see a lessening of Islamofascist Terrrorism.

A dead key Islamofascist will never scam a teenager into becoming a suicide bomber.

Maybe it's me, but your links aren't showing anything like the above report - even after refreshing.

However, I did find another report on this topic: Link

I was in Moscow in 2000 when terrorists set off a bomb in an underpass. It killed over 10 people including an 11 year old girl. I remember walking by the site the next day and seeing all the flowers. It was very sad. If this guy was responsible for that then my day has been made.

I hope they cut their throats with a dull and rusty fishing knife like the Chechens do to captured Russian soldiers.

I'll never forget watching the video of that poor Russian kid with a boot to his face, in what is obviously agonizing pain for about a full minute while the Chechen pigs basically cut his head off with the dullest knife in existance.

Some of you know what I'm talking about. Good riddance to these scumbags!
