Daddy issues = looking for a father figure = socialism
That's a good point. I've always noticed, and this is a completely unfounded theory, that many of the real knee-jerk socialists I've ever met have had really domineering fathers--hence they're always rebelling against this symbolic Big Daddy. There's a real resentment of authority, especially if it comes in the guise of a white male.
Again, completely unfounded--but it does make me wonder. It's the age old battle between the cools and the squares, kids. v. parents. Al J is just fighting for his right to par-tay... which is real sad, considering he's a fifty-plus year old man, but with all the emotional/psychological development of your average 10 month old.
It is ironic that he views conservativism (with its message of individualism, laisse faire economics, etc.) as so authoritarian and fascist, and yet he sees socialism as benevolent simply because he feels it's a system more sympathetic and supportive to his drug/fetish/whatever demons. I guess true freedom is too threataning to that poor bastid...<p. Land of Rape and Honey is a BRILLIANT disk, though. I guess you don't have to be a real brainiac in order to put out some smokin' industrial tracks.
