Mr. Kerrey: "Mitch McConnell is the Republican whip of the Senate and he's accusing us of being too partisan? He can go to hell for all I'm concerned." "People ought to stay out of our business" - Thomas H. Kean
It's a tie for first place in the "Let them eat cake" category.
They must not remember how that one worked out for its ultra-arrogant, ultra-elitest author. And she and her husband had absolute power.
Mr. Kerrey and Mr. Kean have just finished off any remnants of their own credibility and, along with that credibility, the last remnants of their already faded power.
Get off the scene, boys; you're sooo over.

Oops! Missed that second 'e' in the name. Thanks! Funny, I haven't heard much from the great Mr. Kerrey about getting Jamie Gorelick under oath to testify publicly. Not that HE would ask her any tough questions.
Was Mr. Kerrey asleep when Richard Ben-Veniste was snidely asking John Ashcroft about whether or not his family uses commercial air flights? As if that would have ANYTHING to do with the alleged "work" of the commission?

Hey, this took an hour.Links to your quotes would take even longer, but would be worth it.

Gotta keep the heat on. Gorelick must NOT be allowed to get away with this.

Kerry... Kerrey... all those lefties look alike! ;-)
I heard that ALL of those on the Commission were standing behind Gorelick. They're all covering for each other, IMO. Kerrey was on the Senate Intelligence Committee... he has his own conflicts if you go back a few years.

Links to your quotes would take even longer, but would be worth it.I did a search of "Rice" in the FR archives, ordered by 'time', and then perused them one by one for quotes from the period prior to Bush agreeing to let her testify. They're all in there, but yeah, I probably should have compiled the links as well.
Maybe I can do that tonight if I have the time. Thanks for your post.

The American public is not paying attention to this 9/11 commission. They just see it as politics as usual in D.C.

Outstanding, Lancey.
I'll be watching Gibson this afternoon.

Links are easy. When you find an FR post, simply right click on the post number and then click "copy shortcut". Then go to your post and Ctrl-V. When you are doing a research post, it's best to assemble your post in Notepad or an HTML editor.
You can do this with any link, but it's nice to link directly to the post number when applicable.

(Flashback - March 28th)Tom Kean, former governor of New Jersey and a Republican, told "Fox News Sunday" that his commission feels unanimously that Rice should testify in public. "But we do feel unanimously as a commission that she should testify in public. We feel it's important to get her case out there," he said.
Members of the independent panel have insisted that Rice give public testimony under oath, particularly after last week's charges by former White House counter terrorism adviser Richard Clarke that Bush had not done enough to deal with the al Qaida threat before the attacks.
But as for Gorelick, the silence is deafening.

Nice Job!!!

Good job on gathering the quotes.
"Why won't she testify under oath before the 9/11 Commission? Doesn't she owe that to us as an officer of the United States government? She's a liar. She lied twice in "The Washington Post" op-ed. I'm sorry. She's a proven liar. She should testify under oath." - Paul Begala
As though the writers at the Washington Post are fair or balanced. Begala is such a shriveled little man.

Condi just got it wrong.
She should have written an op/ed in the Washington Post
and called Dick Clarke a liar. End of story, right?
Ooops... I keep forgettin' about that one-way-street!

Thanks for the tips. (I'm no spring chicken and certainly will never be confused for a computer dude, by I think I could handle that.)
The assembled quotes were not gleaned from individual posts but from articles, and several times I had to go to the source link to read the article because the main thread had only an excerpt.
To: Lancey Howard
I forwarded your quotes to Rush...

Thank you for taking the hour to compile this comparison on the 9-11 Commission treatment of Condi versus Gorelick.

That mental midget Kean is a typical New Jersey Mafia controlled politician. Whomever selected him is probably sweatly profusely about now.

More "today" quotes:
"Of all of the public officials in the Clinton administration and the Bush administration, the one who is most directly, in my judgment, responsible for 9/11 happening is Jamie Gorelick," Morris told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes." The 9-11 commission's chairman, Republican Tom Kean, called the resignation request "sort of a silly thing."
Jamie Gorelick: "I'm not going to resign from the commission," she said arrogantly on CNN. "It's a bogus factual issue. When you ask hard questions of people who are in office and who have been in office, they take offense."
"Tragically, these hearings have proved to be a very divisive diversion for this country. Tragically, they have devoured valuable time, looking backwards when we should be looking forward," [Zell] Miller said. "Its obvious to me that this country is rapidly dividing itself into two camps: the wimps and the warriors."
Tom DeLay: Partisan mudslinging, circus-atmosphere pyrotechnics and gotcha-style questioning do not get us closer to the truth.

WOW!!
Those are some great quotes.
The more I read, and the longer this charade goes on, the more outraged I get.
