The government's disinformation campaign of the 50's and 60's was quite effective. Even now, anyone who even reports a UFO is considered a nut. Many people stil equate UFO with flying saucer.
I always figured there was more to the UFO situation since the government spent so much time and money to demonize people who made reports, especially people like airline pilots and military personnel.

Anything the gov spends so much time, energy, resources on telling us there's 'nothing there, move on' about . . .
