McVeigh wasn't speeding. He had failed to display tags on the car he was driving. An ommission I find particularly stooopid on McVeigh's part. As sophisticated and clever as McVeigh was, I find it hard to imagine that he didn't have tags on or in that car to display as he made his exit. I think someone removed them so he would be caught. Just try driving down the interstate in a used old car with no tags dispalyed and see how far you get before being stopped.
McVeigh was many things, but stupid or unplanned was not one of them.
"McVeigh wasn't speeding." That's what I remember too. I also remember that the trooper may have been speeding -- possibly up to 90 mph, responding to something. Also have the impression the trooper had someone else in his cruiser, though it was never mentioned. Other than the fact that he used the word, 'we' in one of his statements.
