Scott Baugh shows off his back yard with the unabashed glee of a schoolboy with his first bicycle. Then he goes through photos of a recent dinner there, pointing to his guests with the same guileless enthusiasm.
The Huntington Beach back yard features a lagoon-like pool that includes a waterfall, waterslide, footbridge, spa, kids' pool, and swim-up bar with a palm-frond sunshade. Friends have dubbed the suburban expanse "Mandalay Baugh."
And his guests? U.S. Sen. John Sununu, New York First Lady Libby Pataki, Rep. Ed Royce, former Secretary of State Bill Jones and a collection of the county's top politicos. Not that Baugh hasn't had his own storied political career - from the depths of a grand jury indictment to the heights of serving as Assembly Republican leader.
Tonight, Baugh is slated to become the new face of the Orange County Republican Party. He's the sole candidate as the party's governing Central Committee prepares to chose a successor to county Chairman Tom Fuentes, who's stepping down under pressure after 20 years in the post.

Maybe I could drop in on the party.
I like backyard parties if they have good BBQ!

Why is it that "inlcusive" translates to "except conservatives."

Maybe I could drop in on the party. Can you afford a chopper?
I can see it now, Ernest in shades, a flower-print shirt, and white pants, exiting his chopper, a babe on his arm and lawyer tagging behind...
It'd make a great FReep.

If I had a chopper and a babe , I would go farther than a backyard party for a good time.
Shouldn't take long to get to Vegas.

Shouldn't take long to get to Vegas. But in Vegas there is no FReep!
Sob! Ernest, how could you?
Think about it, man... Politcians lounging about wondering, 'Who's that?' Sending their minions to wheedle you for an audience. Can't you just hear the James Bond music in the background? Where's your sense of theatre, man?
