no offense, but screw New York - I live in rural south Georgia, and we do things a little differently down here. Legal technicalities are generally subordinated to practical efficacy, provided that the wielder of force is a solid citizen (which I am).

"rock-salt to the butt" is considered a valid form of nonlethal defense here - I checked with the local police and county sherrif today.

That being said, it must be borne in mind that dead people have the virtue of being unable to sue.

No offense, taken, FRiend. I also say "screw NY!" a lot of the time (and probably mean it more than you do!

I live in rural Upstate NY, and we also don't follow the letter of the law in some respects, especially when the laws come from Albany and NYC. However, initiating your own lethal force in response to force initiated by someone else is a deadly serious (no pun intended) matter. I don't make any jokes about it.

As I said before, I think it's a very bad idea for several reasons to respond to the force of others in a situation like this with non-lethal force, especially with a firearm. If I am compelled to respond to you with a firearm, it will be with the most lethal force I can muster. No warning shots, no second chances.

And yes, no chance to sue me for wounding your criminal ass.
