I just unsubscribed due to the piece written by Mr Last today who seems to need a Clintonesque speaker for a leader/president.....comparing his press conference with a historic enemy press to an ESSAY for gawd's sake, an essay written in Blair's own sweet time. The time to be picky about President Bush's speaking ability stopped on 09/11/2001 and we do not appreciate kicking a man, especially our President, when he is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

The Bush administration has gone out of their way to downplay the links between terrorists and Iraq at every opportunity

He must be talking about some other Bush Administration.

Bravo!

Tony Blair is a more eloquent speaker. But without GWB's America, Tony Blair's Great Britain would have trouble invading Scotland, much less Iraq.

I like a plain-speaking many in the WH myself.

Bush pulls off the eloquent speech when necessary, such as the memorial service and the post-9/11 SOTU.

Leave the golden language to the elites.

Agreed.

That paragraph really killed the credibility of the piece.

That said, Tony Blair is a gifted speaker. The President is a folksy everyman. I love and appreciate them both. They are a great team.

God bless them both.

Cheers.

He is .. David Kay found a ledger in Iraq - it listed the terrorists trained in Iraq and the costs. I know it had more details, but one of the names that popped up - Mohammed Atta .. BUT .. THERE'S NO CONNECTION.

Agreed!

We do not need another laywer-speaking-hillbilly-elitist, or his wife, for President ever again.

Conservative Bush (the Cowboy) and Liberal Blair (the Erudite Englishman) make a perfect foil for one another. I support President Bush, the man who said OBL, Wanted Dead or Alive and got criticized for it.

When facing terrorism, we want plain talk and plain bullets, not fancy phrases and white flags.

What a great idea. Do you think Bush will back us against the troublesome Scots?

I don't give a good God damn how inarticulate our President is... so long as he means what he says and says what he means..... sad but that is how low i have set the bar.

Bush is doing just fine by me and I am a registered Democrat, trying hard to find an active Democrats For Bush program

Good for you, Mikey! Contact Zell Miller. I think he could point you in the right direction.

Our President is a decent man who speaks from his heart. I don't need eloquence from him. Just need to know that I can trust him to do what he says.

Looks like the conservatives also have their ELITES who are more interested in style of substance. I appreciate the STEADINESS of our Presidents message. My tag line paraphrases George Bush SOTU and as long as we are at war I want him to stay on message.

The bar has been set low for quite sometime.....

Who do we have in our ranks who will rise up to President someday who will command universal admiration? I hope someone will...

So long as this poisonous "my party first" politics continues nobody could.

We have to look to what is best for the country first, that is why I, a Democrat,am voting for Bush

Well, more power to you. I am a Republican and won't be voting for the man (unless I fear it will be too close to call). I just think we could have done a lot better.....

Until then I will wait for 2008...

Problem is if we don't, the Democrats might witht he likes of Harold Ford. That guy scares me - a true moderate Democrat and a very effective speaker.

I know we have candidates to counter him should he ever run - but it will be a tough fight...
