We used to do that in front of my grandmother's house (only in daylight). Of course then, only a few cars an hour passed by. It was in between two hills, so you could see them coming for a long way. We'd dare each other to lay in the road.

I'm going to clarify here - the story states that TWO PEOPLE nearly hit him, and called 911 to say they saw a child lying in the road.
The last time I saw someone lying in the road, I turned the car around and went back to help. AFTER calling 911...
