Actually, I have wondered if perhaps the Repubs allowed Gorelick onto the commission because they knew they could discredit her (and therefore, the commission) if necessary to combat emerging partisanship.

Of course, Gorelick's memo raises the question as to why the Clinton administration felt it necessary to place further restrictions on the FBI and CIA.
The timing is interesting, too. They did this a month before the Oklahoma City bombing.
