Santorum is just playing it safe. There's no need to go all out and endorse Toomey when Toomey is running a fine campaign on his own. Toomey is a rising star for the GOP - I know Specter is RINO scum but he's still an R. And that R is valuable when you consider it may be the difference between a GOP majority or a GOP minority.

Just stick with the incumbent - regardless of what happens the GOP will still retain a Senate seat. Besides, Toomey's supporters can read between the lines. They know that Bush and Santorum's support of Specter is half-hearted at best and tepid at worst and they're only doing it because that's the way politics are played in Washington, unfortunately.

How much contact do you have with Toomey voters in PA? I'm in contact with them everyday here and they are plenty p.o.ed. Even if they still vote for him in 2 years or Bush in November, they will not be working for them if Toomey loses in a close race where their support would have made the difference.

If party is more important than ideology, can we really count on either of these men to do what they say they will do? That doubt is growing.
