Thomas "People ought to stay out of our business," Kean is obviously part of the problem. I don't recall the specifics, but a week or so ago I heard him being interviewed on the radio. He said something about re-configuring the FBI or splitting it up. At the time I was taken aback by his grandiose opinion of his and the commission's authority. Does anyone here have the time to look into Kean's statements?

"People ought to stay out of our business," he huffed. This is why the government our founders created no longer works. This is the entire attitude of government officials in the United States AT EVERY LEVEL!! Government needs to be completely taken apart and the incumbent bureaucratic and elected jackasses in office thrown into the gutter where they belong.

Why was that a dirty trick? Does he think the information should have been hidden?

"That's because she's a litigation partner in one of Washington's most high-powered Democratic law firms - Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering. And that firm represents Prince Mohammed al-Faisal al-Saud, a member of the Saudi royal family and director of a key Saudi financial agency, against a lawsuit filed by a coalition of 600 Sept. 11 families. >> "
Gorelick is involved in representing the Saudi's in that case?
To: kattracks
How come the press never brings up this either?

Congress created the commission. The President appointed the Republicans and Tom Daschle appointed the democrats.
You will recall, perhaps, that the original chairman was supposed to be Henry Kissinger, but the democrats put up a big howl because of (ta-da) conflict of interest. Kean was named when Kissinger stepped down.

Why was that a dirty trick? Does [Kerrey] think the information should have been hidden? Apparently. My politically disinterested wife found Kerrey to be insulting and sleazy when he was interrogating (read: attacking) Dr. Rice last week. He has little to no credibility left.

this memo - which went beyond what federal law required - erected a legal wall between the FBI and CIA, creating "the single greatest structural cause for September 11 Mainstream media has no interest in the Single Greatest Structural Cause of 911. Thanks to the New York Post for getting this to a small percentage of the planet.

Another tid-bit I came across. About March 22nd, the "Jersey Girls" appeared on Hardball. Chrissy asked what they wanted to hear from this administration, and one of them, Lorie Van Auken I believe, said something to the effect of "I want an apology...my government failed me, and I want them to say they're sorry."
Lo and behold, a few days later little Dickie Clarke appears and what does he start his remarks with -- a heartfelt "I'm sorry...your government failed you, and I failed you..." Of course, the cameras cuts to the girls who are crying. Awwww, what a touching moment.
And what a setup!

John Kerry was just on Imus and said it was a "dirty trick" for Ashcroft to bring up the memo.
The commission has turned into a joke.

Unless Gorelick comes off the panel, we have another McCarthy Inquisition on our hands. Not exactly - McCarthy was wrong-headed and used bad methods, but he was right on the substance of his charges.

A life of lawyering and government work led Jamie Gorelick to become Vice Chair of Fannie Mae. She is one of the three in the Office of the Chairman that manages the government-backed powerhouse's $3 trillion in assets.
After graduating from Harvard Law School, Gorelick spent 18 years in the private law practice representing major U.S. companies. Her law career was interrupted, however, by government work, including stints with the departments of defense and energy in 1979 and 1980. In 1993, she took a job as the general counsel for the Department of Defense. The next year, she became the deputy attorney general.
When she was ready to leave that position, Gorelick says she had many offers in the private sector. But she found herself particularly drawn to Fannie Mae, and not just because "it's a very well run business." She found that the mission of the once government-owned corporation, which is the nation's largest source of home mortgages, appealed to her.
"The product was housing," Gorelick says, "and it was important to me that the product was one that I wanted to spend my days on. Housing is good for society--and making more housing finance available to a broader cross section of Americans is good for individuals and good for our country."
Her spare time is devoted to her two children, ages 7 and 12, and her husband of 26 years. Work and family, she says, make for a very full life.

Jamie's Gotta Go
In it I found out that before being at Justice, Gorelick was at the Pentagon, and was no doubt the person who prevented Special Forces from going after bin Laden, saying that the CIA should do it instead.

It was a "dirty trick" because the truth was told. Just like the declassified Dick Clark background information tape, released by Fox's Jim Angle, enraged Kerrey. He can't stand for the truth to be revealed. What a bitter, self important, vile, disgusting little man. The entire 9/11 Committee is a shameful waste of time and money.
