Iraqi politicians are playing a growing role in blocking U.S. commanders from unleashing fatal force on insurgents.

In the most glaring example, Adnan Pachachi, a Sunni member of the U.S.-appointed Iraqi Governing Council, insisted to American Administrator L. Paul Bremer that Marines cease their attacks on insurgents in Fallujah so he could initiate talks.

"We consider the action carried out by U.S. forces as illegal and totally unacceptable," Mr. Pachachi

How about if we bring Saddam back for you, Mr. Pachachi?

We don't need to bring Saddam back ... much easier to deliver Pachachi to Saddam's cell..

Well Mr. Pachachi, how about getting your chicken-shit Army to do their frickin' job so our boys don't have to die doing it for them.

Time to call them in sit them down and show they Bush's "You are either with us or against us" speech.

Turn back to Iraqi politician. "Choose, swiftly".

Added a defense source at the Pentagon, "Kind of hard to imagine what Gen. Sanchez was thinking when he ordered the Marines to cease fire when they were killing the enemy - all because the Iraqi leadership isn't able to control the terrorists. Aren't we supposed to be freeing the Iraqis from terror?"

Sanchez got spooked by the simultaneous uprisings by Sadr's thugs and the Sunni thugs in Fallujah. Sanchez thought they might be uniting against us and for a day or two in Baghdad it appeared that might be the case. So divide and conquer is the name of the game. The jihadists are doing it by trying to break up the coalition. We are doing it by making sure the Sadr situation is put to bed before we crank up against the Sunnis in Fallujah. From comments made today by General Mattis, who is in charge of the Marines around Fallujah, I am guessing that the Sunni jihadists have 48 hours before the hammer comes down in Fallujah for once and all.

This could be a good thing. Evidently there are attempts to make the Iraqi governement out to be "puppets" in the Middle Eastern media. If they are out causing trouble like this, it's a lot harder to make that claim.

AH, you have a very good point. Sort of a Triangulation with the Coalition playing the bad cop and council the good cop. That should work.

Nam revisited. Will we ever learn. June 30 comes, we should go.

The war on terror is against all Islamic terrorist. We took out Saddam, now lets move to the next objective - Iran.
( Let Israel get Syria.)

We are wasting time trying to give them democracy. They just need to know one thing - the next time they don't do exactly like we say, we will come back with a mushroom cloud.

Fear will work better than love with these folk. They don't live in the 21st century yet.

If we succeed in building new roads and schools and bridges and hospitals and pipe lines and .... . We will just end up with another Turkey. Yep the same Turkey who told US to shove it during the war. Or maybe we will build them up even better - with airports and high speed trains - turn them into another Saudiiiiiii Arabia. Gee then we'd have two big rich Islamic countries funding Islamist worldwide.

No, remember 911 and crush and continue. Crush and continue.
Don't waste time exposing our 130,000 heroes to sooner or later a terrorist WMD attack in Iraq.

Remember:
WMDs - have not been found in Iraq ......but
WMDs will find their way into Iraq.

Islamist Insurgents are now being seen by Marines using Police Flak Vests.

Maybe we should have some sort of clap on clap off IED installed in those Iraqi vests.

Details on why the assault on Fallujah was called off..

Mr. Pachachi joined other council members Friday in scolding Mr. Bremer for not consulting them before Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the U.S. commander in Iraq, ordered counterattacks in Fallujah and in southern Iraq, where firebrand cleric Sheik Muqtada al-Sadr is inciting violence.

The protests resulted in orders to end the Marine assault after forces had killed more than 400 Sunni holdouts and foreign "jihadists" who have come to Iraq to kill Americans and their allies. The Marine operation was triggered by the April 4 killing and mutilation in Fallujah of four former U.S. commandos who worked as a security detail.

The political pressure continued yesterday, as another council member, Shi'ite Ahmad Chalabi, warned the United States not to move against Sheik al-Sadr's militia in the holy city of Najaf for fear of enraging Muslims around the world.
We knew what the Sunni's were going to do. It's Chalabi who should be strung up by the testicles along with those in Defense who listened to this charlatan for being so gullible.

Oh dear. We'd better be careful. It takes a lot to make Arab Muslims angry. [scoff]

Sounds like a good start, anyways. Too bad it has slowed to a halt, but I am quite confident our fine fighting forces are taking terrorists and insurgents out each and every night, via snipers and their foolish attacks against our dug-in forces.

Those are probably the ones they stole when they overran the police stations. I do like your line of thinking though.
