So they had an Energy crisis 3 years ago... and today they have LESS power-plants being built? When are these people gonna learn?
Governor Arnold better take charge on this. Just remember Arnold, WWRD(What Would Reagan Do). California needs to start building plants, improving efficiency, and finding new ways to generate electricity right away. I know these measures wouldn't bring more power right away... but the recognition that it is a temporary problem that's being seriously dealt with, could help keep their energy costs a little lower than they would be.

The reason California is not going to have enough power is because of the way Enron has been so greedy in making billions of profits on the backs of the people of California. This is yet another example of the failed energy policies of the Bush presidency, which is so worried about securing contracts for Halliburton in Iraq to make power plants there that they have neglected the people of California.

Hmmm, I suspect that the economy is primed to grow great guns this summer so that all those incumbent politicians feel that they will be re-elected. Only problem is that as the economy grows, so grows the demand for power. I'll bet the ISO folks are putting 2 and 2 together and figuring out what is likely to happen this summer.

One thing about electricity use. It's highly elastic. Whenever the price goes up, demand immediately falls, followed shortly thereafter by falling prices. The problem arises when politicians try to restrain demand when prices are constant. Let them rise. They won't stay up there very long.
