LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Contradicting her successor, former Attorney General Janet Reno said Wednesday that nothing prevented the sharing of FBI intelligence with criminal investigators working on counterterrorism. Reno, speaking Wednesday at the University of Kentucky, took issue with Attorney General John Ashcroft's statement Tuesday that a legal restriction referred to as "the wall" prevented the FBI from sharing information with investigators.
"I know of nothing that would have prohibited, based on what I've seen, proper follow-up" in cases Ashcroft referred to, Reno said.
Reno and Ashcroft testified before the Sept. 11 Commission Tuesday in Washington. Ashcroft blamed Reno for issuing "draconian" guidelines in 1995 that he said made sharing information even more difficult.
On Wednesday, Reno said her guidelines actually required the FBI to contact investigators and discuss cases.
"It was not really restrictions," she said. "It was exactly the opposite situation."
During his testimony on Tuesday, Louis J. Freeh, who headed the FBI from 1993 to mid-2001, noted two primary findings by the commission: a lack of resources to fight terror threats and legal impediments that made terrorism investigations by agents difficult.
Reno also talked about a lack of resources, but said that under Freeh, the FBI did a poor job of keeping track of the information its agents gathered.
"It was important, if counterterrorism was the bureau's priority as it should be, that its resources should match its priorities," Reno said.
Reno was in Lexington to speak to about 300 students at UK's College of Law as part of a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Brown vs. Board of Education ruling. The ruling ended racial segregation in public schools.

Wow. Are there any rest stops between her eyebrows and her eyeballs?

"No. Reno contradicted Ashcroft in her speech on Wednesday."
Well I find that a little hard to believe since Ashcroft hadn't even testified yet. He was the last one for the day, so how could Reno contradict Ashcroft when he hadn't even spoken yet.

C'mon, Bunky.
Ashcroft testified on Tuesday, Reno gave her speech on Wednesday. What part don't you get?
To: AllenBarraIsRight
Her primary mission was to interfere with any inquiry that got near the ChiCom connections. Bet that's part of the Clinton culture the Commission wont touch.

The press has a smoking gun in the form of a declassified document, a spent weapon in the form of a declined offer of incarceration, a sitting subversive commisioner intent on distorting historical data, a majority of newspapers nationwide playing favorites by ignoring it while CNN & PMSNBC give her face time to weave her premeditated denial, bolstered by Reno's ramblings!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Is it 1998 yet????

What part don't you get, and where the hell have you been? She testified Tuesday morning and Ashcroft testified Tuesday afternoon. I think you'd better go back to bed and wake up on the right day. Put that in your Bunky and sit on it.

From the article:
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Contradicting her successor, former Attorney General Janet Reno said Wednesday.... Reno, speaking Wednesday at the University of Kentucky, took issue with Attorney General John Ashcroft's statement Tuesday....
Learn to read, Bunky.
To: Lancey Howard
"Learn to read, Bunky."
Yeah Thanks Lancey. I still say Ashcroft contradicted her first since she actually said the same thing about sharing info in her hearing testimony on Tuesday. Her speech at the college is just a reiteration of what she stated on Tuesday.

The scumbag press would give Reno the benefit of the doubt over Ashcroft no matter when anybody testified or what anybody actually said. Have you seen the "Gorelick Wall" articles that are coming out now? They all seem to conclude with Gorelich asking rhetorically, "If Ashcroft didn't like the policies, then why didn't he change them?" See, the press is already spinning for the Democrats.

Yep, Sean Hannity played a recording of her saying that today. It wouldn't have mattered what Ashcroft had done with the memo, the damage had already been done to intelligence, and there was no way Ashcroft would have been able to set it right before 9/11. That memo was written in 1995. Six years had elapsed. Can you imagine what was missed during all that time? By the way, diid anybody check to see if she'd CC'd a copy to bin Laden? I wouldn't put it past her...the witch.
