Shooting Rummy: The Desperation of the Liberals

                                                                  ~~o~~

We all get hot under the collar sometimes.  We all lose our tempers.  We say things we regret.  Then we wish we hadn’t said it and could take back.

But sometimes, people say things, and write things, knowing full well they are wrong.  They threaten.  They menace.  They terrorize.  And they do so for something as stupid and petty as politics.

An ad in the St. Petersburg, Florida, weekly reader ''The Gabber'' (gotta love the title of that, don’tcha?) ran an ad requested and tailored by the Saint Petersburg Democratic Club.  The ad reads as follows (the highlights below is mine):

Senator Edward Kennedy is absolutely right when he called Iraq ''Bush’s Vietnam.''  But it’s not only Bush, it’s his whole damn Bunch – Cheney, Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice, Rove, and Ridge.

They’ve tried to blame the Iraq war on bad intelligence, on Al Qaida, on terrorists, on foreigners from Iran and Syria.  Bush doesn’t even know who in the hell we’re fighting.  The Bush Bunch calls the Iraqis insurgents.  Did you know that Britain called the American revolutionaries insurgents and traitors?  The Iraqis aren’t insurgents.  They’re Iraqi patriates [sic] who want us the hell out of their country, and we should get the hell out of their country now!

We have Marines and soldiers being killed by the dozens with many more wounded.  How many have to be killed before the Bush Bunch is satisfied?  How many burial services of our Iraq dead has Bush attended?  Any?  How many military hospitals has Bush visited to talk to our wounded who have lost arms, or legs, or they eye sight (sic), or combinations of these – how many?

And then there’s Rumsfeld who said of Iraq ''We have our good days and our bad days.''  We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say ''This is one of our bad days,'' and pull the trigger.  Do you want to salvage our country?  Be a savior of our country?  Then vote for John Kerry and get rid of the whole Bush Bunch!

Please make a donation of ANY amount of money you can afford and send it to John Kerry for President, Inc. 901 15th Street, N.W., Suite 700, Washington, D.C. 20005.  Do it NOW.  Thank you.

       For Club Information:
       343-7921 Ken, President
       525-1596 Edna, Vice President

Now, I’m pretty sure that line above about taking Rummy and shooting him has got to be illegal.  It is certainly uncalled for in civil discourse.  And yet, Ken Steinke and Edna McCall of the St. Pete DEMS believe that their idea of open political debate is to assassinate the Secretary of Defense.  Which is exactly what they are doing.  Apparently with the blessing of the John Kerry campaign, according to the St. Pete DEMS’ veep.

Now, imagine if you will (and I’m making a hypothetical case here, folks, not an actual threat) that I said ''we should take John Kerry and shoot him'' or ''take John Kerry’s Defense Secretary (Hanoi Jane, perhaps?) and shoot her.''  Wouldn’t the First Amendment cover that?  Well, let’s just say that I would (rightly) have visitors at the front door of my house wearing black suits and sunglasses (at night, no less), escorting me to a federal facility for a five year in-house course in gravel making.

Now, I don’t like John Kerry, and I like Hanoi Jane even less.  However, I won’t threaten violence against them, or anybody else for that matter.  Nevertheless, Ken and Edna seem to think it’s both hunky and dory to shoot Rummy.  I wonder if they’d do the same to the rest of the ''Bush Bunch'' as they call them.  I wonder how such hate could be fostered over a disagreement over political policy.

Or perhaps they’re still honked off about losing the 2000 election.  This is Florida we’re talking about.

There is something sick about the hatred you see from the lib/dem/soc/commies.  If you’ve ever visited the DemocraticUnderground.com site, you’ll see what I mean.  For a short time, though, because if you post anything to the right of Kennedy, Hellary, or ''Hanoi Jean'' Kerry, you’ll be banned.  Considering the language the allow on that site, you’re probably better off getting booted.  They swear ALMOST as much on John Kerry’s official website....

I hope that Ken and Edna will switch to decaf for a while.  Perhaps while they are breaking rocks in Leavenworth, they’ll calm down a bit.  The nice part is that after they’re convicted of a felony, they won’t be allowed to vote anymore.  At least, not legally.  ‘Course, that never stopped the lib/dem/soc/commies before.

Oh, if you’d like to contact them and tell them your opinion of their ad, the area code for St. Petersburg is 727.  Enjoy!

Haven't you heard by now that the phrase "pull the trigger" really means "tell him how we feel".

Hee hee. Stinky actually said something like this in response to the complaints.
He'll be glad (or maybe not) to know that at least a few freepers understand this nuanced approach to the language of their intellectual betters, the communists progressives and traitorous terror-tools Those Who Work for Peace.

For instance, if I say of Ken Steinke,

"string the old bastard up, set him on fire and hang his charred carcass from the Sunshine Skyway Bridge"
what I really mean (in my nuanced aristocratic cutting-edge way, of course) is
"Mr. Steinke must surely be aware of the hurtful, unhelpful interpretations that might be applied to his words."

Steinke is 75 years old, btw, which probably means that he is a veteran of the McCarthy era and even of the CPUSA's WW2-era "second front now" movement if he is a red-diaper baby rather than a college convert or a union goon.

They are not democratic,so don't call them the democratic party. That was an old FDR phrase.
