I have a question about the FBI computer systemm. I have heard that it was antiquated and made communication between departments and field offices difficult.

How in the heck hard is it to buy however many thousand PC's you need and set up a data base they can access for information? I just don't get this.

I'm not buying it either.
There was an absolute deliberate underfunding of the agencies for specific reasons - any number of them can be found on threads in FR.
However, the wall put up by Gorelick (in undated memo) manifested this: If McVeigh was working with Saudi nationals or Saddam, these "international" intel gathering folks were forbidden from working with "domestic" intel gathering folks who may have been following Nichols and McVeigh to the Phillipines.

That is the crux.

Interesting isn't it that the Clinton-Gore machine was constantly bragging and having photo-ops about wiring schools to the Internet, upgrading the WH with computers/Internet, but conveniently forgot to upgrade the intelligence community?

I don't get this either because in most of the Patricia Cornwell Scarpetta novels written during the 1990s, Scarpetta's niece is busy fixing the FBI's databases and what-not. Shouldn't they be working by now?????? :)
