Is Clarke chummy with Novak? Has Clarke been used as a source for Novak before? (I mean was he a named source.) I don't understand why Clarke would leak Plame's identity unless he was just trying to show how much he knows to a reporter. (possible) Clarke seems to have felt the same way about the Iraq war as Joe Wilson and some disgruntled CIA folks who believed terrorism would/will increase as a result of invading Iraq.

I've said before I think he may well have given her name, but not "leaked" it.

I think he and others gave it to justify Wilson being sent. Certainly not to harm her, as the Wilsons are spinning her role in Wilson's trip being revealed.

Clarke didn't get the job he wanted in January of 2003; the "leak" came in the summer of 2003; from all accounts from his friends, he was LIVID that he didn't get that job; IMO, that's when he started amassing "evidence" against Bush and not Clinton.
