He has done a good job.

Anyone who does an objective review of the CIA's performance over the past several decades, will not be very laudatory of the Agency's performance. Tenet has been in charge of the Agency longer than most of his predecessors. He lacks vision and was selected for the job by virture of his political connections and his bureaucratic skills. He is the classic Washington bureaucrat and insider. Tenet is not the person capable of reforming the Agency. He has done a poor job.

Nobody said he was going to be the one who reformed it.

Since you apparently can't figure out why Tenet was retained, I will explain the facts of life to you.

1) DCI and the FBI heads are not supposed to be Political in order to allow continuity in security matters;
2) RAT obstruction of W's appointees was the order of the day in early 2001 as illustrated by the blocking of confirmation of the top three posts in counterterrorism by Senator Karl Levin. Thus, a new appointee would have been held up by Traitorous, backstabbing RATS and their RATmedia allies;
3) Retention of Tenet gives Bush cover for attacks such as this and had he been fired and embittered could be causing great difficulty in these hearings;
4) DCI is ALWAYS a bureaucrat. Some work their way up the bureacracy ala Dulles, McCone, Helms, Woolsey, Colby others come up through the military bureaucracy: Turner, Walters, Smith. Sorry to disabuse you of the notion that James Bond types wind up in the Director's office.
