(1010 WINS) (New York) -- Former New York city mayor Rudy Giuliani says laying blame for missed clues that could have signaled the 9-11 terror attacks is ``Monday morning quarterbacking.''
Giuliani, who was New York's mayor when terrorists hijacked the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center, said that for any one thing to jump out, you almost have to know what's going to happen in the future.
Giuliani is scheduled to testify next month before the government commission investigating the terrorist attacks. Giuliani spoke to The Associated Press in an interview before a public appearance to announce a national men's health campaign.
Giuliani said he had not seen or heard any intelligence that could have prompted the government to react differently than it did.
But the former mayor said the good things that'll come out of the commission's review are the things that tell us how to prevent it in the future.

Monday morning quarterbacking. Right on. All this time/resources devoted to what if's. Pitiful, actually. Doesn't change a thing, except to try to make sure we read the "tea leaves" more accurately next time. More than likely, history will repeat itself, though with different players, same game. This is getting more than a little tedious. Perhaps Rudy can put it in perspective?

In addition Rudy is a very capable public speaker and never needs notes. His mind is immense and the committee will be very careful in their questioning of him as they know he will hand them their heads if they step out of line.

IMHO, that's not why he's being called. I get the impression that it has something to do with Hillary's first responder crap.

I wonder if Ben Veniste is going to try to phrase a statement-as-question to Giuliani which will try to ask whether the Mayor of NYC could have done anything differently to avoid damage to the city's buildings...
