[history]
The so-called "September 11 Commission" is supposedly trying to find out what happened, or failed to happen, that allowed the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 to succeed. But there is a big difference between trying to unearth facts about September 11, and trying to collect political ammunition for Nov. 2, 2004

The same people who say President Bush should have paid more attention to warnings pre-911 are the same people who would have lynched him for pre-emptive action against Al Qaeda if he had acted on those warnings. He's damned if he didn't and damned if he did. Those ganging up on the President for not second-guessing ahead of time in those days are also the same people who want to turn over the defense of our country to the United Nations. Go figure!

This should be the last of the commissions. What differentiates it from the investigations the Congress has held? It has been a terrible waste of money that should never be repeated.

and the fact the questioners tried to keep her from replying to their insinuations showed how little interest they had in finding out facts. They already had the facts from four hours of private testimony from Dr. Rice. What took place in the public setting was an effort to humiliate her and destroy her credibility. Democrats fear facing Condi Rice in an election to a high position more than they fear any other Republican.
