18 - "On more than one occasion, workers hung back at the end of a group interview session and only then expressed their views, privately, about communication barriers, BST said. "
Things haven't changed since I was there 10 years ago. No discussion of any 'real' problems is tolerated during these sessions, though you might find one or two who may discuss some in private after the 'official' session.

NR - RA has a good point - "don't forget me'.
We really should develop a good 'ping' list, as we have a pretty fair number interested, qualified people who are interested and can make some great contributions. And we would need to purposely opt out those who have nothing to contribute but smart-ass remarks.
I don't know anything about developing or running such lists, nor am I in a position to run one. However, I would be glad to go through our master thread and cull out the names to form the basis of the ping list.
Anyone ?

Only NASA employees, not contract workers, took part. The need to interview the contractors, too. They're a HUGE part of the NASA culture, and view it in ways that the guvvies don't.

While there were always squabbles and rivalry between contractors and NASA types, I found the cultures and people to be pretty interchangeable, with the exception that the contractors actually did accomplish some work sometimes.

Sitting here watching Apollo 13.
I remember the first landing, and all the other missions.
Then a thought came to me, as I have a gal who's a friend of mine and was born in early '72.
There's a whole generation of young Americans who never saw a man walk on the moon!
Sad!

...In February, NASA hired Behavioral Science Technology Inc. of Ojai, Calif., to develop and administer a plan for changing NASA's culture....
If you have to read past this point, you've missed it. NASA management hired someone else to do their job. Because if it fails, they just fire the contractor who gets paid either way.
It's a difficult task. But,management in aerospace stinks.
