The millennium plot was forestalled by a lucky break. All the money spent got them nothing at all. An alert customs agent on the border became suspicious.

The various agencies had clues they just were not able to connect the dots. All the money in the world was NOT going to change tht fact.

Forgive my cynicism, but I think the "Millenium Plot" was generic - worries about every large city where crowds were gathering to celebrate - and worries about problems with infrastructure because of computer noncompliance with the new year number.

The Arab independent operator who entered the US with explosives in the trunk of his car was going to drive that car all the way to LA and blow up a whole airport? Sorry, I cannot but it.

No, it wasn't. The guy had bomb-making materials hidden in his car, and a map of LAX and LA, with sites circled.

Rush was talking about it this afternoon.
