Disappointed gnashing of teeth in DUmmyland. Be warned of the bad language...those who aren't swearing are speechless.

I'm assuming it was Gorelick who wrote the 1995 regulation - she was with the DOJ at the time.

I broke the pledge for just one minute to go to MSNBC in time to hear Matthews say Ashcroft struck a real blow to Gorelick and Lester Holt asked if this puts into question her presence on the commission.

I mean REALLY. Her conflict has been as plain as day since we all got wind of it, and it takes Ashcroft to make it crystal clear that she had taken positions like that. That should have been obvious well before today, but the left needs to be clobbered over the head with unparsable facts before they concede a point.

ACK.

I did not tarry at MSNBC and am back at Fox, but if even Matthews gets it, Jamie's tenure may really be in doubt.

He said that Gorelick did not respond to Ashcroft's accusation.

Matthews is so off on these things; it has to be purposeful.

Now he's talking about Clinton maybe trying to assassinate OBL:

MON: Memorandum of Notification

Matthews is saying that Ashcroft is wrong, that Bill Clinton approved a plot against OBL and that when Ashcroft said today that he didn't have approval to kill OBL -- or that he didn't get it -- he was wrong; that Clinton had left them wide open for it.

I think Matthews is wrong.

BTW, in case you're wondering, Chrissy's guests tonight are - tada -- BV and "The Wives," as he now calls them.

Official Dem talking point from Chrissie: the overnight battle will deal with Clinton's MON (memo of notification) ordering the assassination of bin laden.

My husband, who is not particularly political, says they are afraid of Ashcroft and never laid a glove on him.

He's right.

Just finished Richard Miniter's "Losing bin Laden" and thought it was TERRIFIC in its explanation of all of the Clinton failures. Between that book, Freeh's and Woolsey's comments, and Ashcroft's testimony, x42 and Reno look like Keystone cops.

Just wait for the Dems - who have been screaming to declassify documents - accuse Ashcroft of unethical behavior for having Gorelick's memo declassified.

If he left a MON, why doesn't THIS administration know about it?

And if he did leave one, perhaps the Bush adminstration decided his MON was no authentic or legal?

Lester Holt is actually discussing Gorelick's "The Wall" memo with former VA gov Jim Gilmore. Was actually spinless.
