I called the commission this morning too. I was on hold awhile also. I asked about Gorelick. The woman answering the call was very snooty and told me to contact the White House because the President appointed her. I told her I thought the Democrats appointed their own. She stuttered and said contact he White House.

Keep the calls coming. She is quite flustered.

I've been away and out of the loop.

Are you saying the August 6 PDB was given to reporters and published in 2002?

How is it that the RNC does NOT get these facts out to people? I know there's a liberal filter we have to get through but really, when you control the House, Senate and Executive branch there is just no excuse...

He just blamed the lack of funding in 2000,2001,2002 on Congress.

Freeh is putting the lie to the clinton/clarke claim that going after al qaeda was paramount.

Wasn't funding dramatically increased in 2002 for FBI, etc.?

Kean must have received a ton of e-mails on the clapping

One was from moi. Of course if he followed all my advice, there would be 3 fewer Dems in the room :-)

The title and a summary of the contents were in the Washington Post. However, a freeper found it because it was in the archives (paid subscription only) and he had to do some searching.

I hope EVERYONE is complainig about this. Her "boss" testifies today... what a joke that is going to be.

I did a quick scan of the major liberal rags this morning to see if any mentioned the conflict of interest. Only one (forget which) mentioned that Gore-lick would not be questioning Reno, but would be questioning Freeh and the others.

Sound and color better on Fox. Slight sound delay between the 2 - I tried to have living room/bedroom of both channels - did not work!

The title and excerpts of the PDB of 8-6-01 were published in 2002 by many newspapers including the Washington Post.

I did NOT know that.

Frankly, it ticks me off to a fairtheewell that the RNC does NOT do a better job getting this information out.

The perception is that the White House has been "hiding" behind this PDB which of course they weren't given the information you have cyncooper have told me.

Ashcroft is the one being set up as the fall guy and that the commission was going to grill him as harshly as they did during his confirmation hearings.

Well, I have no doubt the commission will throw soft balls at Janet and draw out the long knives for Ashcroft.

But it's going to take something huge for them to draw a big enough rational conclusion that paints Ashcroft as responsible for 9-11.

FWIW, I'm not sure that anybody personally will be held responsible but the large, nebulous bodies of the FBI/CIA. Easier for the commission that way donchaknow...

"No Clapping" = another example of how Washington reacts to events instead of planning ahead for the obvious.

I've never been a fan of Louis Freeh. He's a tap dancer, and he has the distinct advantage of having had access to everyone's FBI file. This committee will NOT go after Freeh.....they've already decided, as we know, that Ashcroft, not Freeh, is the pre-determined villain.

Ashcroft is going to take brutal heat! Some of you may remember that back during the summer of 2001, Ashcroft quit flying commercial because of personal threats against his safety. This had nothing to do with terrorists threats or the terrorist chatter that heated up that summer, but the committee will try to make it look as if Ashcroft ignored national warnings, but took care of himself.

"I am looking forward to Monsoor Ijaz's testimony. Anyone know what day he is going to testify?"

Yesterday on Tony Snowes show he said he will testify on May 7th and it will be behind closed doors. He wants it to be televised, but the commision said no!

Louie Freeh, is it true the main terrorism focus of the FBI was to collect information on the "vast right wing conspiracy"?

Was this term (VRWC) used within the FBI prior to Hillary saying it? Of limited resources, what percentage was assigned to AQ Vs the percentage assigned to investigate conservative Americans?
