short of a force field around the rotors, I'm not sure how we can stop it...maybe Captain Kirk will lend us the technology...

RPGs are unguided rockets. How would you defend against them. About the only thing you can do is move faster than the guy with the rocket can aim.
Small arms fire will also down a helicopter with a lucky shot.
