Oh, the disappointment. We mean John Kerry's economic policy proposals consisting of the same old stuff about soaking the rich while protecting the middle class. We know Mr. Kerry is unlikely to turn to us for advice, but were he to lower his senatorial gaze to what is happening on the ground, he would discover a really dandy tax issue. In fact, it's something that a big bunch of middle-income taxpayers are discovering for themselves this month -- the horror of the alternative minimum tax.

I had my taxes done last night. Oh, the pain! I am not rich but the government thinks I am. The inability to take full deductions and tax credits really chaps me. And every time I see that earned income tax credit form on my tax preparers computer, I cringe knowing that the huge bite taken from me will be money deliverable to someone who didn't really earn it at all.

And don't forget those 10 million illegals doing jobs that Americans won't do while crippling our social and health systems. The productive class grows ever smaller and the entitled class ever larger.

The AMT got us good this year. I heard my husband saying choice words while he was figuring it out. All I know is we made quite a bit less in 2003 because of the new accounting rules the congress imposed made it illegal to pay commissions to my husband unless a hospital paid cash upfront, which they don't most of the time. He's still gone all week and usually part of the weekend, just 80% less commissions. It gets better, the guys up top have no sales background. They decided the reps made too much money, so they lowered the base salary also in case the reps wouldn't be motivated to work hard. It is hard not to work hard when you cover 13 states, but only a dem could be so dang stupid. I don't have to ask if they are dems because their thinking is so convoluted. Now every rep is depressed or angry. Brilliant aren't they?
If the govt. thinks we are rich it is a sad state of affairs in the USA.

So, Mr. Kerry, a suggestion: If the prospect of those blue states sings to you, why not add the repeal of the AMT to your campaign promises? So. Mr. President, a question: Where was the repeal of the AMT in YOUR tax plans?

The obvious reply is. . . .
"Who is John Galt ???"
